I do think Notre Dame was more adversely affected by the long layoff than Alabama. Bama knows how to deal with it. Notre Dame doesn't. And there's clearly more talent on Bama's side, so Notre Dame would have needed to rely on their rhythm, which they lost while not playing for weeks.
