They're dumb. The National Championship will be a rematch of a regular season game, between two teams in the same division of the same conference. That just seems silly. I know that Bama is likely the second best team in the nation, but these two teams all beat the same opponents in their division and played a pretty boring game against each other. They need to fix the set up somehow...though I don't think the President needs to get involved.

Also, college football's motto is "every game matters" when in reality, that regular season game could've gone either way and we'd still have the same two teams playing for it all.

Oh, so now they'll do it, but when Ohio State and Michigan were the top two, it was just inconceivable. :(

Alabama's only loss was to LSU, and it was 9-6 OT. I have no problem with this rematch, but you're not incorrect about the system needing a fix.

Yeah, especially since we just had this same situation a few years ago with Michigan and OSU.

Of course, my team was fucking screwed...but this time it's OK.

Wrong either way.

I am under the belief that the best two teams should play each other every year. Sadly with this system, it is not the case. I especially hate automatic bids for conference winners oh so very much. I think that 1 should play 2. 3vs4, 5vs6, etc. If they are going to do a ranking system, why not abide by it all the time?

I think they will get it right this year since only two teams have stood out IMO. Also, this is coming from a fan of a non-conference team :)

Man, I didn't even think about the OSU/UofM thing. The BCS clearly has a 'relationship' with the SEC though. They're over the moon about the ratings they'd give. The reality is though, this system eliminates any chance for underdogs to achieve something. That's what's so cool about March Madness...those 'teen' seeds that come from no-where and stun top seeds. I'm not asking for a bracket like that, because it's inconceivable, but there's gotta be something better than these 'experts' just choosing...because that's just rife of conspiracies and pay-offs, along with pure bias.

Yeah...auto bids create for bad bowl games...I'm a Big East fan, I know these things.

Remember too, OSU and MICH were ranked #1 and #2 going into the last week of the season. Then MICH got leap-frogged.

Another example of too much focus on "conference A" v. "conference B" is this: Arkansas didn't get a BCS bowl. They finished 10-2, with their losses coming to the two teams in the National Championship. However, Clemson finished 10-3 (L to NC State, SC, GT), WVU finished 9-3 (L to SYRACUSE, LOUISVILLE, and LSU), Oregon had the same record, losing to LSU and USC, Wisconsin finished with the same 10-2 record, but lost to MSU and OSU. I mean, wouldn't you think that Arkansas deserves a spot more? But no, because these teams won their divisions (I mean WVU? The Big East deserves to be disbanded, not a BCS Bowl) they get a spot.

Yea, it is not fair that teams who lose late int he season to good teams are leaped by teams who have an early loss to a bad team. I think losing to a terrible team is unforgivable yet teams manage to sneak into the top 10 since it happened in the early weeks.

The Big East situation in the whole BCS is a joke...WVU, Uconn or Cincinnati? WVU will probably end up with the bid by default...the automatic bid thing doesn't work...and I went to WVU ...

Win your goddamn conference. If you aren't the best team in your conference, you aren't the best team in the nation. If you don't win your division within your conference, then GTFO
