If hockey were like the BCS, this would be the new point system:

Wins in November/December = 0.5 point (OT = 0)
Wins in January = 1 point (OT = 0.5)
Wins in February = 2 points (OT = 1)
Wins in March = 3 points (OT = 1)
Wins in April = 7 points (OT = 3)

Additionally, overtime is now corresponding 3v2 rushes from the blue line where the team has to match or beat what the other team did.

Oh, so it's weighted like the Hart Trophy voting is, right? :p

i get that you dont respect the ACC, but really. the MWC? come on man.. i dont care if TCU won their conference.. southern miss won their's too, does that mean they should get in? and why should stanford get in a BCS game, they lost their conference but were also left off your list. and why on earth doesn't arkansas st get any mention? they won their conference and only had 2 losses (VT and illinois), by your logic they have just as good a resume as any other 2 loss team that won their conference

and in the same post you said teams that dont win their conference shouldn't be in a BCS game and then you want baylor or kstate to go..

make up your mind bolts.. you cant just pick and choose your arguments based on which teams you want to see.. i think it'd be cool to see an oregon st / tennesee game because both teams are orange, doesn't mean they should be in a BCS game

Arkansas can't go to a BCS game because the BCS only allows two teams per conference. So the SEC gets the National Championship game. Arkansas gets the Cotton Bowl.

People also forget the goal of the BCS, which is to get the national championship game right. After that, it is up to the bowls to decide, from a pool of teams with select criteria, whom they want to play. Outside on 1 and 2 and the conference champions, nobody deserves or earns a BCS bowl birth. They earn their way into consideration.

Be top 14 and you qualify.

Which allows the good ol boy network to pick who they want, not necessarily the best matchup.

Fortunately after 2013 the BCS will hopefully be scrapped.

Aside from the National Championship I don't watch any bowl games. I already posted 2 books that pretty much shit on the BCS and provide factual evidence to show the system is flawed. Get a playoff, have the games at the schools home stadiums and stop outsourcing your most profitable games. It's just dumb on the schools parts to want this system.

The NCAA is afraid to get rid of their precious Bowls.

There is exactly one situation in which a conference may send a third team to a BCS bowl. If both members of the NCG are from the same conference but not the conference champions, the champion of the league gets an automatic bid if the conference has one and is eligible for at-large selection if not.

So basically if Georgia had won but LSU had stayed in the top two with Bama, they would have 3 BCS members. LSU winning shut the door on everyone from the SEC.

And let's be honest, the Cotton Bowl is a better game this year than the Sugar Bowl is. I'd watch KSU-Arkansas over Michigan-VT. But I'll probably be too focused on the Rose Bowl to watch anything else. I might watch the NCG, as much as you all may hate it, because A) I didn't see the first one, B) even if OSU should have been in it it'll still be a great game, and C) I don't have one of those Nielson box thingies so I don't affect the ratings anyway.

That's just the thing though, the NCAA has nothing to do with them. You will never hear it called the NCAA National Championship. How much money are the schools losing out on by not hosting the games themselves? How much of the fun of college football is the atmosphere and the unique stadiums? That is gone by having the games at a neutral sight.

If LSU had lost it would have opened up another can of worms. It would have been a nightmare. Fortunately they blew the Bulldogs out as expected.

The Oregon vs Wisconsin game might be the best bowl game. Wisconsin is a big team. Oregon has had problems facing teams with big D lines. Wisconsin will have a problem with the Ducks speed. I expect a close game.

The BCS matchups are absolutely brutal this year. Oregon/Wisconsin and Stanford/Okie Lite are the only matchups that have a chance of being any good. What happened to every game means something. Apparently that wasn't the case for Alabama. And I read online that if Oregon had beaten LSU the national championship game would still have been LSU/Alabama. WHAT? Not only is the BCS a horribly flawed system, it's borderline corrupt with its nut sucking of the SEC. I'm coming closer and closer to not watching college football because of it.

I'll only be watching the Big 10 teams in their bowl games. That'll be it.

When I have more time, I'm going to post my idea for a playoff. And it doesn't take the precious BCS completely out of the equation, either. And, it keeps the other bowls too.

OK, here it is.

16 team playoff. 1st round starts one week after the conference title games. Use BCS rankings to determine seeds. Teams seeded 1-8 host the first round games. After first round, teams are reseeded, just like Stanley Cup Playoffs. Quarterfinals played at the Cotton, Outback, Capital One, and a rotation of the 4 BCS sites. Example: this year would be Fiesta, then Sugar next year, etc... Semifinals are played at the 2 BCS sites not in line for title game. Title game 2md week of Jamuary. Other bowl games are played for non-playoff qualifiers.

top 4 go to the sugar and orange (most notable i think, sorry fiesta, and rose bowl is too crazy w/ the b1g and pac12).. winners of those play in the BCS title game.. its a week-ish later than the rest of the bowls anyway

anything more than 4 teams and you end up with the same regular season as the NFL, where teams can go like 7-3 and make the playoffs.. which is what sets apart NCAAF.. 1 loss really hurts your chances (doesn't kill them, but definitely hurts them).. which makes NCAAF the best regular season

I agree 100%. I don't understand why they can't keep the Bowl system and have a playoff. Have the first round (8 teams) be Bowl games, and the winners of those games qualify for the national playoffs between 4 schools.

I like it, Nas. I'd do 8 teams, but same idea in principle. 4, 8, 16, whatever... have a freakin' playoff.
