Michele Petit, his game day photo in programs made him look like the bad guy in a 007 movie.

Sean Whyte. Because no one named "White' has ever been spelled that way to this day.

David Goverde, righty goalie. Gave Cal Petersen hope.

That was the best, I can't remember who said "Jamie Come on In and Bring Your Puck With You Storr" which prompted me to call him 7/11 because he was always open 24/7. I was rolling.

Steve McKenna. No explanation necessary.
I remember watching his first game (I think), and all he could do was barely skate a straight line, right through the middle of the ice. Was pretty obvious he was learning to skate on the fly. From the pregame shows back then, they did use him for various comic relief situations. So, seemed like he was a fun guy to be around.

Aki-Petteri Berg. Was early in the Al Murray, Director of Scouting tenure. 3OA pick in 1995, and was supposed to be a cornerstone Defenseman for the franchise. Was a complete waste of space.

I remember that guy having like one decent season and then holding out for a contract because he was Blake's partner and they had some success.

When they traded him to TO I couldn't have been more happy, Taylor made some good picks but he definitely wasn't one of them. I used to call him Aki Saki Took A Walkie.

WTF is with the Kings and blowing top 5 picks?

I’m not sure how it happened for me, but his last name sounds like Store, so 7/11 made sense cuz he was open all the time.

Goalie Experiments of the late 90s early aughts
Felix Potvin
Dan Cloutier
Byron Dafoe
2004 was a really big failed experiment Roman Cechmanek
Sean Burke

There were others that lasted a season or less. The team kept signing over the hill goalies in hopes that one revives his career.

I think Talbot maybe added to this list.

Potvin was lights out after he was acquired from Vancouver, he played well even into that 2001 run against Detroit and 7 games against Colorado. The issue was he needed a new contract that July, he got one and went into the toilet.

Cechmanek was very low risk/high reward, unfortunately it didn't work out. The Kings had a self imposed cap of about $45 million back then, you couldn't even field a team for that now. Also not sure if you know but Cechmanek passed away the last 2 months or so. Young too, no explanation what happened but was surprising.

Dafoe was good, he really skyrocketed after he was traded to Boston, may have even won a Vezina but don't remember.

Burke brought some stability during the initial rebuild but was never going to be a long term solution, Cloutier...don't even get me started on that one - I remember how he trashed the Kings as he went out and complained about hotel accommodations.

Definitely one of Dumbo's blunders and fortunately Quick's emergence Madd us forget about that.

Nick Shore. I don't even have a clue how he stuck around here and played as much as he did.

Jere Karalahti

Mr. Heroin himself. Had one decent stretch in late 2001 and into the series against Detroit. Then fell off the wagon, and was never seen again. Did continue to play professionally in Europe into 2016 according to hockeydb.com

I was gonna say Felix Potvin was the guy when he came to LA. Vancouver fans so mad at his turnaround I remember one fan had a sign in the crowd that said "Felix 'The Rat' Potvin". Kings upset Detroit then took Colorado to 7 games the year the AVS won it. Also in the wake of trading Rob Blake to Colorado for Deadmarsh and Miller. I remember LA winning that deep OT game 6 with a score of 1-0 and Blake snapping his stick on the crossbar in anger. That year was the only excitement for about a 20 year span of LA hockey

I always hated the way Jozef Stumpel spelled his name. I know he's Slovakian but he was not good enough when I was a kid (in my mind) to be spelling his name that way.
