Someone suggested this, great idea. Kings season over, maybe 3-4 weeks left in the season so it's a good time to start this thread.

I'll kick it off, I found The Last of Us two years ago and they just finished S2 on Sunday (E7). It's your typical zombie apocalypse show like The Walking Dead but people get infected by a viral fungus. I had no idea it was based on a video game of the same name (I'm not a gamer) but it's been pretty good. It's streaming on Max.

Another one is Mobland, it's a UK version of Ray Donovan (also a great show, it ran 2013-20 but I just started watching it a few weeks ago off the recommendation of a buddy. Currently in the middle of S4, I throw it on after the night's hockey games). Two feuding English mob families and Tom Hardy plays the fixer for one of them. I have to watch this one with captions on because its hard for me to understand with the English accents and Ive never . The S1 finale (E10) is coming up this weekend and it's been decent so far. This one is on Paramount + which is an add on to Prime Video if you have it.

Some classics I recommend to kill the dog days of summer with hockey gone are Sons of Anarchy (since I ride a Harley*, spin off is Mayans which is OK, not as good) and Homeland except S3-6 is a snoozefest and struggle to get through that.

Let's hear what you got!

*Junior II saved up money since Christmas, is getting straight As and is a good kid so he wanted an ebike and got one last week. Dude insisted I move mine over so he could park next to me in the man cave. Love it.

I have what's called my OMR, Old Man Routine. It's bed by 10pm, throw something on and pass out before I get through an episode. I've had to rewatch so many episodes on so many series because I fall asleep.

Not a huge Star Trek fan but did like the movies, I'm more Star Wars since that's what I grew up with in the late 70s and early 80s but some of those movies just suck, especially the newest ones E7-9.

Saw that on one of the services, Ill check it out.

The Platform I and II (didn't even know there was a II that came out in fall 2024, watched that one this past weekend) are interesting, dystopian stuff where you're in a vertical prison with 333 floors roomed with another person, a platform loaded with food stops in the middle on each floor once a day for two minutes and you have to shovel what you can to eat. You can't keep anything either or else the prison level becomes freezing or you're incinerated. These are movies though, not a show.

Every month during their sentence they are gassed and relocated to a different level and the lower you go, the less food there is. You could be on level 6 this month but level 274 the next. It's totally random where you will end up and with who.

People go crazy and kill each other, get greedy, if they dont lije the persons below they'll shit on their food, commit suicide by jumping into the platform shaft, cannibalize each other, rebel, try to share to make sure lower levels eat, etc. Kind of trippy.

The Platform movies are based on a movie out of Spain so there's captions since the originals are in Spanish, it's on Netflix.

I did see that platform one....1 of them, I liked it. Going to have to check out #2? If thats not the one I saw.

I also grew up likeing Starwars more ....I thought but I really only like 3.5 of the movies, Star wars, Empire and 1/2 of Jedi (cant stand the Ewok shit). Then I also liked Rogue 1.....the rest of those movies are Jill like (excited to see them, but want to kill myself with the results)....god i find them bad. I have no idea how I can be in such a minority on that lol. Star Trek seemed a bit more adult (haha) but even then, left me lacking.

If I remember The Expanse starts a little slow maybe but becomes way different than I thought it was....enjoyed it.

Rogue One was awesome, links the moments after EIII and before EIV. You finally get to see why Darth Vader is the badass of the galaxy, I actually have a Vader image inlayed on the faring of the Harley that you can't see unless you're literally standing right next to it. People notice it at gas stations or whatever are like whoa that's cool. My little homage to Vader.

Heard Andor is good, haven't seen that one yet and still waiting for The Mandalorian S4, I'll have to watch S3 again because I forgot what the hell is going on it's been so long. Dismal is taking their sweet time with that one.

Two other ones I recommend are Into the Night and Into the Badlands but the bummer is both series were canceled after S2 and S3 (I think, maybe S4) so you don't get to see what happens next.

Into the Night is cool, it's a commercial airplane that has to avoid sunlight so they are constantly on the move around the world moving in the dark so they don't get burned up. Don't know why they canceled this one, it's good.

Into the Badlands is like a Matrix type show, totally over the top unbelievable walking on the ceilings stuff. I guess when TWD was in its prime they showed episodes immediately after to keep the viewer hooked on AMC but by S2 viewership waned badly so they canceled the series.

I dont watch a lot of secular TV stuff. When I do, its typically religious things. Season 1 of The House of David was pretty good. I believe season 5 of The Chosen will be released pretty soon. Seasons 1-4 are really good.
I really dislike hockey offseason. The chatter on here slows way down and there just isnt much going on. Maybe with Blake gone things will get interesting this offseason.
At least I have the Doyers. They were annointed before the season started and they are looking pretty average right now, but they have a lot of injuries.

Took the kids to Doyers Angels May 17, been a while since we'd been to Chavez Ravine. Betts had a chance last up bottom of the 9th but struck out. He's easily my favorite player, small guy who made it and can change a game like that. Love those underdogs.

Sucks it didnt work out but at least I got my helmet nachos.

Andor season 1 but season 2, not so much.

If you guys haven't seen Battlestar Galactica from 2004 it's a must watch in my opinion. Only about 5 season but it's pretty good.

Game of Thrones and House of Dragons are both good.
American Primeval is decent
The Penguin - On Max is good
The Boys - on Amazon Prime is damn good.

I'll think of more but these are off the top of my head.

The irony, dragons and snakes. Immortal enemies, I have both on my arms as tattoos. Guess it sums up who I am, little saint little sinner. I'll help you but I'll also kick you down the stairs depending on your behavior NFG. We go to a game, you know who will start stuff if needed, well you know since we have been to games together haha.

GOT, I just cant get into that man. I watched maybe 2 episodes and it was more banging than actual action, not into shows like that. I could go to a rub and tug if I wanted that. The dragons look cool though.

Other three, heard they are good. Day one and we have some awesome recommendations.

If youre a die hard hockey fan like we are, May-August is the worst. I'm always looking for stuff to post but it's hard to come by unless a couple players decide to get busted for oxy or MDMA.

I am not sure I would classify myself a diehard as you guys are but I am more than a casual fan. To be honest, I never thought I would see the Kings win the cup. Since they won two, I am a bit more relaxed than before. As I have got older, my priorities have changed a lot. I used to be "That guy" that would sit on the edge of the couch with the remotes in a certain order and scream for every goal. A few years ago my wife even asked me why I dont do that anymore and my reply was they won two cups. I still love to watch but now I am more intrigued with the GM part of the game. I would love to sit with the GM and hear offers and requests as well as contract negotiations.

I hear you, hockey hasn't been the same since the Kings won. Not that I don't love it, I do, but I don't mind missing a game here or there nowadays as opposed to before 2012. Goes for all teams, not just LA.

But that feeling we had in 2012 and 2014 keeps you coming back for more, it's too bad the Kings are that disappointing franchise we all hold on to. These last four teams' fans must be so thrilled.

The business side has always fascinated me forever, I still spend a lot of time learning what I can being an outsider and the CBA, the nuances, etc. I would have loved to be an agent or a GM myself.

If you add up all tv/movies whatever, for me hockey is about it. I dont care if I miss a few games or even all of them. Im a fan, but on my own time. I think most fans would like a shot at a gm spot or some sort of advisory roll and might do better if they arent video game trade type people. Why the concensus is we have to recycle the same 40 guys is mind blowing to me.

Don't hire anyone from Teh Blog, myopic. Like trade Spence for Matthews myopic. No real pulse on the team, fantasy land stuff.

I have never posted there but read daily, you can't help but laugh at some of these fools. It truly is entertaining and straight up NHL25 nonsense.

It's embarrassing being a Kings fan knowing there are so many people like that.
