he Orioles have acquired minor league righty Richard Rodriguez from the Astros, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports on Twitter. Cash considerations will head back to Houston, Baltimore stated in announcing the agreement.

Rodriguez, 25, has worked almost exclusively as a reliever in the minor leagues. He’s spent his entire career in the Astros farm system, reaching Triple-A last year. Over 70 1/3 frames at the highest level of the minors over 2014-15, Rodriguez owns a 2.94 ERA with 7.5 K/9 against 2.0 BB/9.

As Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports, Baltimore has fairly high regard for both Rodriguez’s fastball and curve. The Orioles see Rodriguez as pen depth for the club’s top affiliate as well as a potential call-up option down the line. Because he has a full slate of options remaining and is not yet on the 40-man roster — he was left off despite being Rule 5-eligible — Rodriguez does come with plenty of flexibility.

Is he ready?
roch says he left in the 6th and maybe headed to baltimore so he could be in the line up tonight . the 1,000,000 question is how do you make room for him and chen . i think chen is tj our bp hasn't been used alot lately and hope the starters go deep . schoop maybe we have to get rid of someone and i hope it is young , pearce , lough but i would love for it to be snider . snider i have always hoped for better from him he is a liabilty in the field , and on the base pathes . plus where is his power ?

Snider has been hitting a ton lately (minus power) so I doubt it's him. Last 7 games .400 1hr 4rbi last 15 games .304 1 hr 8rbi.

Pearce has been hitting decent too, last 7 games .353 last 15 .293.

Young and Lough not so much. Young last 7 games .067 0HR 1rbi. Last 15 .170 0HR 3RBI.
Lough last 7 .158 1 HR 4RBI last 15 .200 3HR 10RBI.

Other option is DL Jones if he's not ready to come back. Would only buy a couple games though. My guess is either Lough or Young. Since Young can't field it might be him.

the orioles are to left handed . snider gave boston 3 runs on no arm and bad reads on balls in fridays game alone . i think someone will pick him up so the cost is zero . they may dl nolan since they have been working on his achilles but as seen yesterday he is a go . sometimes the dl is to keep a player . this team is better with nolan on it . but this team is better with wilson on it to.

I'm sure Wright will be up in Sept when fully healthy. The kids should get a lot of playing time with the O's sucking now.

Mikey - might as well. Not like this team really has a lot to lose at this point.
