A trip down memory lane. That group, including Brown and Easley was pretty special. The number of turnovers they created that year was incredible.

NFL films recap of the 4 pick six game vs Kenney, Blackledge, and a 3rd QB I had no memory of, (not surprising, since nobody else in the story remembered him either).

Enjoy

How does anyone know this? <sarcasm>

There were ZERO Seahawk fans before 2012. Weird isn't it?

I remember THAT game.

I've always felt that the 1984 Seahawks defense doesn't get the respect as it should. It was really very good.

Interesting things about the 1984 defense:

NT Joe Nash's 20 AV in 1984 is the highest ever achieved by a 3-4 NT in NFL history.

DEs Jacob Green and Jeff Bryant combined for 27.5 sacks, as near as I can figure, it's the 2nd highest total for 3-4 DE teammates in a season in NFL history (1981 SF had 30.5 - though I question how much Fred Dean actually played 3-4 DE that year).

CB Dave Brown had a career high 8 interceptions. He had 12 years with at least 3 interceptions - tied for 2nd all time behind Rod Woodson's 14. He also hold Seattle's career INT record with 50, and his 62 career interceptions is second all time among players not in the hall of fame (him and Ken Riley both deserve to be in, IMO). He would start 159 of Seattle's first 165 games.

SS Ken Easley won Defensive Player of the Year (one of only two to win the award) with a team record 10 interceptions.

That is really amazing on the 3-4 sack total. But I believe you meant 2nd most sacks by 3-4 linemen in 1984, not ever ... Eagles fan here, don't forget about my teams line that year:nono:. lol

But that might be tied for 3rd best with the 2012 Texans (mostly Watt but still).

Well, I was trying to look it up and couldn't find it anywhere - so looked up individual sack numbers - and found teammates that were listed in the same year. Unfortunately, the sack numbers went down to 12.5, so Harrison slipped through the cracks with his 12, and hence so I missed him and Brown. As I said, as near as I could figure - which meant I could easily have missed some :)

Yeah I know, just giving you crap. 38 sacks from a 3 man front is pretty insane though.

1986 Seahawks would a made it to the Super-Bowl if they made the playoffs that year... THEY were on absolute fire closing out the season, they had a mid season meltdown but then bounced back .... I"ve always felt until this day that team woulda made it ... They ended then season 10-6 and WALLOPED the Broncos 41-16 closing out the season winning 5 straight.... Broncos ended up making it to the Super-Bowl, but at that point no team was better in the AFC than the Seahawks ...
