I love this idea that simply having VA behind center will magically turn him into the same QB he was against a different UW team last year. He came in with a team he had played with for 3 years in a system he was comfortable with and a slew of receivers he was in sync with and faced a team with a brand new HC starting out a first year QB that turned out to easily be the worst this team has had in at least 30 years. And VA still lost.

Sure, he will be better than Lockie. I mean you can't get any worse. But expecting him to have the same kind of day passing at the helm of a team that isn't a passing team to start with, that has more than one of their top WR weapons out, in a system he hasn't played more than a couple of quarters in and receivers he doesn't have much game time with is ludicrous.

This game will come down to a couple of simple things: Can UW do anything to consistently impede Oregons potent running game, and can UW's offense with all of their youth limit their mistakes and finish drives?

The outcome will be in those two questions.

I'm not expecting him to have the same kind of day. But, being better than Lockie is definitely a bonus!!

Helfrich better have a few ambulances stationed at their locker room including for their DC. The big one could hit him on the sidelines tonight.


Hopefully Uncle Phil is standing on the sidelines in one of his gayass leather cowboy hats watching the carnage as well .

Yep, and I hope it's a slow, painful, dreary, sad trip back home for all who took that trip up here.

Don't ever "under-value" the turnover ratio here...that one ALWAYS plays a BIG part in a ballgame.

Not missing that one at all. That's why I said UW has to minimize their mistakes. UW gave up 5 turnovers at home against Cal. Any one of those not given and UW might have won that game. You can't give easy chances to anyone.

On the other side, UW had 2 interceptions in the first quarter against USC and came up with zero points on it. Again, the young offense played very inconsistently throughout that game. They didn't capitalize on turnovers, but they at least didn't give up their own and found enough of a running game to take the lead.

If we can stop, or slow down their run AND the offense limits their inconsistencies they can win. If either of those other two aren't the case they probably won't.
