"Duff Man…Oh Yeah!"
All hope is lost!!!!
See you tomorrow guys.
See you tomorrow guys.
didnt that bounce off the plate?
A loss is a loss BUT....
Timmy looked very strong, didn't give up a string of hits, got out of jams with relative ease.
Brandon Belt looks like a big league eye. He doesn't look like he is going to be a free swinger up here having strong deep AB's every plate appearance. The hits will come.
The BAD..... Defense looked real suspect
All in all tomorrow begins the streak for 161-1!!!
What'd I miss?
not much, I caught most of the game stuck in traffic listening Kruk & Kuip & Co.
(by all accounts, far better than the Espin broadcast)
The banners were in full effect - awesome idea, sounds like the guys couldn't get past Kershaw again.
Not at all sold on Casilla still.
Yucky first game for the World Champion Giants. I told you all that this was going to happen...
I meant the 9th inning
The World Series glow lasts longer for some than others. I got more than a few caustic messages from fans who were upset that Bochy didn’t order Andres Torres to bunt after Hong-Chih Kuo issued a four-pitch walk to pinch hitter Mark DeRosa to start the eighth.
Instead, Torres questionably swung away at a 2-0 pitch, and didn’t make contact. He ended up working a 12-pitch at-bat that ended with an unproductive fly out to right field.
Should Torres have bunted? It’s not an obvious call. But here’s the bigger point: I knew Torres wouldn’t bunt.
He didn’t work on his bunting this spring nearly as much as he focused on shortening his stroke and hitting for power.
It’s early, but that might be something to watch with Torres this season. Last week in Arizona, I spent a half-hour with him in the clubhouse as he excitedly talked about changes he was making to his swing, dropping his hands a little more as he loads. The changes are designed to increase his power and drive more balls over the fence. He thinks he could hit 25 home runs, maybe 30 — maybe more.
“But you’re a leadoff hitter,” I reminded him. “Your first goal is to get on base, right?”
Torres nodded in agreement, but in the next breath, he launched right back into the changes he was making to hit for more power.
I know others have posted it, but the defense is the scary part right now. The bats will come around, and of course, the entire pitching staff is awesome, but there are too many holes in the field. I don't think it's so bad that it will keep this team from winning the NL West, but it could lead to 3-4 more losses, which makes that a possibility.
