Open the checkbook?

All anyone is saying is "open the checkbook" for the next basketball coach. What does every one think that number is? What would you pay? Say an actual number. Don't just say, "What ever it takes".

I don't think 2-2.5 is unreasonable for the right coach. If 1.6 is our ceiling I think our priorities are out of whack.

Bill Self at Kansas gets 3 Million. Tom Izzo at MSU gets 3.5., and Calipari hasn't won a title for Kentucky, but he is still paid 4 million.

Your point is kind of moot. UNL is not funding the new arena. It's being funded by private donations, arena revenue (ticket/consessions), parking, and increased taxes on bars, restaurants, hotel rolms, and car rentals. If the revenue projections don't pan out Lincoln will levy a separate property tax on residents.

UNL is simply a benificiary and they've already gotten what they wanted. The deal is done and there were no standards regarding quality of bball coach.

T.O. can now tight ass the bball hire just like he did the baseball hire and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

First of all, Nebraska is not building any new state of the art arena. The city of Lincoln is building it and Nebraska is just playing there. Like the Century Link Center and Creighton.

Second, Osborne just said that the job has not been offered to anyone. And we all know that makes it official.

Third, the reason I asked the initial question was because any thoughts of paying a basketball coach at a place like Nebraska 2 million is crazy. The football coach makes 2.8 million. At a place like Nebraska where football is what it is and the basketball program is probably the worst in all the BCS, there is no way the football coach and the basketball coach is that close in pay. If we did that with a basketball coach then Bo would have to jump up about a million. Now if a basketball coach can come in here and build something then his salary could get up there but not to start.

Fourth, Brasky, blame your mom for my avi. She picked it out when we were on the computer with each other to buy a sex swing to get a little more adventurous.
