Okay, but unless one guy like Jeremy Jacobs wants him out he isn't going anywhere.
In solidarity the Montreal Canadiens have temporarily postponed Marcel Hossa legacy night.
"We don't wantt o celebrate this guy because it may later come out he was taunting the kid and then we'll have to reverse it and that's nothing but work work work."
I’m not so sure even Jacobs can back him right now.Exactly, Bettman will be in the role until he decides he no longer wants to be commissioner.

The league handled this incredibly poorly, from the lack of investigation into its own actions to its bullshit penalty to the Hawks to the inexplicable lack of punishment toward Chevy and so on.
But more than anything, Bettman sounded like a jackass. I know he always sounds like a jackass to us but his dickhole corporate speak at least keeps partners and advertisers content and that’s mostly what owners need from him. He sounded legit like someone who just doesn’t fucking get it yesterday and I think that’s something that raises alarms in owners.
Bettman's the walking embodiment of the old boys club so it wouldn't be a surprise but there's legit never been this much mainstream criticism of him during his 80 years in office.Bettman is getting up there (he'll be 70 next June) so I don't think he's long for the commissioner role in any event. I just don't see the woners getting rid of him though, they will allow him to gracefully walk away (in the next two to three years is my guess).

The "league" is what the owners want it to be, and I think with a few exceptions the owners have shown that they don't view the players as anything but consumable assets. If there was true concern for the wellbeing of the players the whole cover up would have never happened (among a lot of other things). I am sure that several owners/senior execs have said in private that they are annoyed that have to deal with this. I would bet they aren't as upset that Beach was abused as they are about having to be on calls and issuing statements. They have to prepare to answer the question of "what are you doing to make sure it doesn't happen in your team?" and that means work and money spent for them.I’m not so sure even Jacobs can back him right now.
