I honestly stopped shopping at Metro, Loblaws, Sobeys and Loblaws. It's the same products and bad fruit/veggies as the cheapies but in a nicer locale. I had a FreshCo across from my old building and now have a No Frills around the corner from my house. Does just fine.We have No Frills out here in Newfoundland, they're good, relatively cheap, lots of good food there as well.
$16,000 is about $120,000 in today's money.
Loblaws did do a pretty good job converting part of Maple Leaf Gardens into a grocery store, though:
