You know, it makes me wonder how much more money the league might be making if they didn't have a team playing in an arena that seats less people than the vast majority of junior hockey teams in Canada?

Not sure how many NHL teams have rights agreements with them and how many of those are out some money but this seems bad for the salary cap.

Our local is part of this and they are a disaster. The broadcast freezes, the white balance is always off, audio drops and they sometimes go half a period with no score bug. I would expect the local Fox Sports that got outbid by Diamond/Bally's to get the rights will be there to scoop the rights back up.

Not one penny more because even when they played in a bigger arena they drew the same number of people.

Now, if they moved that team to a place in Canada that currently only has a Junior team and a bigger arena....

This affects MLB and NBA as well.
Quick fix is have ESPN+ lift blackout areas. All the games are already playing there
but with blackout restrictions. ESPN+ would pick up a few subscribers.

This will kill any chance for cap increases until they sort it out. Maybe local teams offer paid streaming service. Don’t know if that will work. Sinclair wanted $20 a month here and everyone just VNP to Canada or Utah.

I didn't watch last night but it seems like Patrick Kane doesn't seem worth trading for?

I have no idea why Chicago tore everything down last summer but didn't pressure Kane to move there and then.

The modern day JMFJ got a contract extension.
NOTE: He might be the slowest skater in the league.

^ Let me also add. The amount of Wings fans praising this deal makes me wonder. Have they all devolved into accepting mediocrity in Detroit?

no coincidence that he got the deal after 2 games against Van.
our team has a habit of making plumbers look like allstars.
Why can’t we make our own plumbers look like all stars? Guess it’s not allowed. Even worse, he used to be our plumber.
