Both seem to be having awful puck luck shooting which will probably turn in time but CGY has the assets to add a scorer to help them out whereas FL is pretty much fucked this year if the puck doesn't start going in. Which they're probably not too fussed about - after trading all of their first round picks cap space is about the only thing they can work with going forward and they'll have some next summer. Buying out Bob isn't even all that terrible a hit compared to his current hit. They probably internally figured this season might be tough without stellar goaltending but beyond 2022-23 they'll be fine so long as they remain a top UFA destination. Is it possible that both the Flames and Panthers lost the Tkachuk trade? Matthew is getting his points, but neither the Panthers nor Flames look very good this season.
Edit: No points in two games this weekend for Matthew and -5 in the +/- department.
Yikes

Chris Tanev just took a slapper right off the helmet. He's up but woozy.
it is amazing that without a large cap how bad NHL GMS really are at their jobs. The best GM in the league has to be Tampa Bays with the way he circumvented the Cap for so long.Jesus Christ just spread it out over the next ten years or something this is agonizing.
The NBA's salary cap has gone from $109 mil in 2020 to $123 mil this year. The NFL from $198 mil to $208 mil. The NHL's has gone up $1 mil. It's just stupid.it is amazing that without a large cap how bad NHL GMS really are at their jobs. The best GM in the league has to be Tampa Bays with the way he circumvented the Cap for so long.
