They are so close to sea level I don't know if they can tolerate a melted ice sheet.

I assumed it would be roller hockey - the only ice you need is for the drinks then.

I'd be okay with that, it would just be good to have some kind of accountability. A guy leaves the game with an injury after a bad hit from behind and the refs review the play and decide to downgrade the major to a minor, I for one would like an explanation on the thought process lol

I think part of the problem with that is the refs are using the major as a crutch because it's the only mechanism to allow the review of an individual penalty. It's not necessarily that they thought the hit was a major all the way, but they call it that way so they can review. Of course the problem comes when they get the review wrong.

Happened last night with the Jackets game, no one saw it but the Flyer players went down hard from a late, boarding, from behind hit by Olivier. They assessed a major so they could look at it. IMO, it was a major in every way, but THEN they reduced to a minor.
