...Devin Hester does his bit while breaking Deion Sanders' record last night, high-stepping into the end zone in what is an obvious homage to Neon Deion. As per NFL rules, he gets a 15 yard penalty for taunting.

When will the NFL get that this is part of the game and people either love it (if it's a player on their team) or love to hate it (if it's a player they dislike)?

I realize the NFL has bigger things on its plate at the moment, but they really need to stop the penny ante crap, in my not-always-so-humble opinion.

Now, if they wanna crackdown on the guys who beat their chests and roar like King Kong after making a friggin' tackle...well, I'm all for that. ;)

I dunno..I see both sides of this one. I like the dances and celebrations, and the Neon Deion "strut", combined with his patented little dance, is my all time favorite, but, when I see high school kids doing it, just makes me snake my head. And even I'm guilty as charged from way back in the day. You do what you d see your icons do. Yes that means that back in the early 90's a few hundred people saw a very uncoordinated white boy trying to emulate the Deion dance one Friday night. .ughh.
It's ticky tacky, but I get the reason behind it. But, what I would like to see is tougher rules about the whole 1st down/pointing thing. If you can't celebrate a touchdown, you sure as he'll shouldn't be celebrating a ten yard gain.

Here here!

And I especially hate the chest beaters after a tackle when they're losing 21-0!

And there's a difference between taunting and celebrating. ....too bad the NFL doesn't know that. If I'm a coach of kids playing football and one of them taunts, he would be benched and he would know why, because I would have made it abundantly clear prior to the season and a reminder before each game.

I agree with you about the inconsistency of the rules... But I am ok with all celebration to an extent(even the tackles by the losing team)...

Lets look at this logically for a second, why do players celebrate there GOOD plays?? I believe it is because they have too... Its hard to make a play if you are not PUMPED UP, and then after that play how can you be expected to just walk off like nothing happened?? If my coach is trying to make me angry and I am pumped up for a play, I will show it!!!

But with that said, many players just go too far, but its really only the TD dances that are too far... the Chest beaters to me are very natural...

Hmm...Treff and TKO, perhaps we should apologize for being illogical. Kudos to Milk for showing us the errors of our ways. Where would we be without his guidance?

Ah Milk, you knew I wasn't going to pass that one up. ;)

Like the TD dances and have no problem with them actually..........................it's the sack dance when your team is down 20 that pisses me off.

Yeah the sack dance big play when your down by 3 scores is a joke. But last night when that no name cb/safety jumped into the air crossing the goal line taunting the OL he didn't get flagged. Just let them do whatever celebration they want. As long as they are not pulling out sharpies or props I see no problem with it.

Why not just save it and crop it. Or the text would be so small it would be pointless?

I think I meant to say "posterity."

Anyway, I did save the thread.
