The foot injury is common issue with oversized men, both extremely tall and fat men.....stress fractures can become common, and often shorten promising careers.....maybe Andre can keep his weight under control and he won't have future problems, but the Bengals can't be blamed for making him prove it to get extended.....I still think they will extend him this season if he continues to progress without foot problems.....

Agreed. The Bengals played this one the right way.

I will wait and see how this year and his contract goes before I say they played it right.

The end result doesn't determin if they played this the right way or not.

Based on all of the information at the time they had to make the decision...it was the right move.

It would be like picking ADP or some other top rated player in Fantasy as your first round pick....a great pick. Then he blows his knee out. That doesn't mean it was a terrible pick...the end result doesn't always mean that the decision made at the time wasn't the right one.

It does when you have that kind of money to spend, knowing he is young and he is going to start. If he is a pro bowler and he leaves, they played it completely wrong. I thought they played it wrong at the time.

Hard to disagree with this. There was little reason to believe at the time they had to accept or decline the extension that he would amount to any more than a bust.

I agree with Tubbs. It's not like he came different than advertised - He was a high risk/high reward type of player when they drafted him. The fact is that they could have picked up the extension and simply cut him if he wasn't performing. At least they'd have options.
