I was looking just now at the NL West standings: http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings

And I had this premonition that the standings right now are going to be exactly the same at the end of the year...same exact order of the 5 teams....but that wasn't the crazy bit, I'm telling y'all the WIN PCTs will be basically the same as they are today, for ALL 5 TEAMS.

I'm callin' this...Giants on pace to win 89, Dodgers 95-96, I mean right today is how much these teams are going to win, by %. Weird, call off the season for the NL West...

And yes I know I sound insane.

I think you'll be pretty spot on with the presentages .....

I also ran across some other forums and some of the things that they do .... one of the strangest I saw .... and it was a board competition .... was who could come the closest to predicting the ENTIRE YEAR game by game. Someone laid out the schedule and then people submitted the schedule back with Ws or Ls next to each game. Interesting little challange .... I think the Giants will win 90 games .... trying to pick which 90 is a interesting adventure ....

The top four may finish with these winning percentages, but no way do the Snakes win only 40.5 games this season.

Yeah, I don't expect that either, shoulda added that caveat but I wasn't entirely sober... LOL

Of course, no matter how bad a team is they can't win 40.5 games. They could win only 40, or 41... :heh:

I stick by the first 4 though. We'll see!

That is kind of interesting. Even more so when you figure the averaged guesses of the competitors probably come pretty close to the outcome (wisdom of crowds). Also, your 90 win guess is not likely to be way off but the particular games you pick to get there probably is...the tendency would be to say 'Dodgers on the road, Giants will win 1, Cubs at home, Giants will sweep, etc...' when in reality they sweep LA and lose 2 to the Cubs, because baseball is weird and any one game doesn't say much. 1 game of baseball conveys as much information as about 6 minutes of an NFL game...

Why was this "sticky'd" ? And can we get some of the older sticky threads released?

Because MSG made a prescient prediction.

As for the others, We have a lot, but which one would you recommend we un-sticky?

Game 5 of the 2010 WS? No way. Game 4 of the 2012 WS? Nope. Timmeh's no-no? I will on the one-year anniversary.

Whether or not his prediction is prescient remains to be seen. Calling it "prescient" would indicate he was already correct.

And, IMHO, we could un-sticky "2013 Top Prospects" (last post 12-07-13), and "2013 Draft Signings" (last post 08-02-13). And frankly, this thread as well.

2013 prospect was unstickied. The draft signings thread I like to keep until the next years draft. I often refer back to it.

As for this one, it was a light-hearted jab. If you guys are so bent about it, I can unsticky it.

Sheesh.

Sheesh.

Think of it as giving away that sweater you haven't worn in 3 years. Or tossing out that two-week-old leftover pizza from the back of your fridge.

Oh I'm totally correct. Have I ever made a wrong prediction before? :10:
