Pretty solid debut.

Has far more potential as a pitcher than as a hitter IMO.

i'm more interested to see if the angels use him at the plate in addition to pitching. would be really fun.

I missed it. Did he bat for himself yesterday?

Ohtani is the first player to win as a starting pitcher, then start and homer as a non-pitcher in his next game in the same season since Babe Ruth in 1921, according to STATS LLC. He is also the first player with four hits, a home run and a win in his first six games since Boston's Wes Ferrell in 1937, and the first rookie with at least three hits and a win in his first six games since Dutch Stryker of the 1924 Boston Braves.

Am I the only one considering that Ohtani may have pulled some sneaky-sneaky-General-Yamamoto shit in spring training?

Looks like he could have debuted with a grand slam.

But a wild pitch scored a run before he hit the home run?

He's off to a flying start. Talented player for sure. Hopefully he'll be able to make the proper adjustments once the league has a book on him.

I still say down the road, he's either gonna be a hitter or a pitcher. Doing both at a high level just doesn't seem sustainable long term.

Too bad Acuna's team is owned by a bunch of cheap bastards and has to be in AAA for a couple of weeks, and his place filler is off to a roaring start, and if he keeps playing at a high level, it'll probably be an even longer wait.

Looks pretty good so far. But. He has faced the Indians. So. Let's wait till he faces a real good team
