If we only had $10M in cap space you might have a really good point. But the reality is, AFTER tagging Kirk, we have about $40 Million in cap space. After making two cuts that need to happen (Hall and Lavaou) That should put us at just shy of $50M. Kirk on a long term deal should take us up to $55M in cap space. If we cant find a Starting LG, a good RB, 2 D-lineman an ILB and a safety with $55M then the entire front office needs to be fired. This doesnt even take into account the ten draft picks we have.

You make it sound so easy. It makes me wonder why more teams aren't successful.

But I guess rolling with Colt because he is cheaper, and then wondering if we are going to make another bone headed trade for a QB seems more logical?

If I were a betting man. If Colt McCoy were to start out as anyone's starting QB for week 1. I'd bet against whatever bet they have stating he'd be that team's QB for all 16 weeks. I like Colt, but he's too limited both from a talent standpoint and a health standpoint. At least imo, and if you think that's an endorsement for Colt. I don't know what to tell you except you'd be wrong.

The best thing about keeping Kirk in my opinion is that it should prevent us from making another stupid trade at least for a few seasons one would hope. And if all we get out of it is a QB capable of 4500 yards a season that isnt prone to throwing his coaches and team mates under the bus.... Im ok with that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't really give a shit about how many yards a QB throws for or how pretty his comp % is. I'm not a Redskins fan because I'm looking for entertaining football. I'm a Redskins fan just cuz. Hell, for all I know it could be hardwired into my DNA. The Redskins winning, regardless how it gets done, is entertainment enough for me.

And when I say winning, I mean winning with an eye towards winning a SB title. Or at the very least, being able to compete for a SB title. I'm not sure that would be possible if Kirk were to get paid the money he seems to be looking to get paid.

Now yes, Kirk does need to improve. But I would rather have him Improve here, than watch him go win a Lombardi with another team like say Brad Johnson did because we were once again more impressed with where a guy was drafted than how he helped our team.

Finally we get there!! So what's the motivation for Kirk to improve after signing that fat contract? We hope? is that it? Or maybe there's some unique insight that puts us in the mind of Cousins. You know what? I get it, Colt McCoy and /or Nate Sudfield will put so much pressure on Kirk to hold onto his job in camp that this forces him to improve his game. upload_2017-3-5_0-8-55.png

Nope, wanna see Kirk step up his game?, bring in his possible/likely replacement!
