Yea, but you would be drafting a player that you are automatically going to put on IR. So unless it was a 7th rounder... you really cant go there. Because you still have to pay him even if he is on IR.

Depends on what we got in rounds 2-5. If we grabbed three players who can contribute now, I would be ok with a flyer on a guy I know will be IRed from the moment we sign him. But IM more along the thought that we sign him as a UDFA if he doesnt get drafted.

Is it hard for a linemen to come back from a acl . What's sucks is he would have been a perfect fit for us at 34.

6th and 7th rounders are where i draft guys that have troubles. injuries, legal issues or whatever else. these guys are the ones that were once projected to be 1-3rd rounders. thomas fits my late round flyer picks.

Why waste a draft pick? He can be signed as an undrafted Free agent.

I think its hard to say any 7th round pick was "wasted." What's expected of it?

UM...Let's see.....you draft him....you have his rights....if not drafted, he can choose the team, and believe it or not......he could easily pick a different team..

if we think he could contribute in the future we draft him because most 7th rounders do not contribute.

you easily take him in the 6th if he is there. Especially with our O-line woes..

That's awful to hear, hope the kid fully recovers but I don't think we have room right now for projects which is what he would be now.

It would most likely be 2 seasons before this kid would make contribution if he's able, 1 season to heal and another to get his lega, confidence and learn the system well.
2 yrs is an eternity NFL wise.

We don't have that kind or time, we need to protect RGIII now, we can't afford another major injury to him.

It would basically be burning a draft pick on a player you know you will be putting straight to IR. We are NOT that good of a team yet. And before you say well its only a 6th rounder, better to use that pick on a kid we can actually develop to contribute. We basically dont need to use up a draft pick and cap space to pay a guy to rehab. If he is there and we sign him as a udfa, fine. But I dont see the logic in drafting him period.

The rule of thumb with injuries at this point with players is it drops them about 2 to 3 rounds. Thomas has been mocked mostly in the 2nd round from what I have seen so a 4th or 5th round pick is most likely needed.
