Got an injection this afternoon of cortisone, and will miss at least his next start.

This guy sure has had a lot of arm problems for a man who is so young and throws fastballs for a living.

He's 29. How long have you been throwing 80 to 100 95mph fastballs every five days for seven months?

Pretty sophomoric way of looking at it!

My point was/is, he's had nothing but arm problems for years it seems. And for a guy who is more or less a one trick pony - aka fastball - this is unusual to see this many problems.

And for the record, he was on the DL twice already this season. So he hasn't done anything for 7 consecutive months!

Well ... you seem to know all about all this ... so am sure you are right. Good for you.

A guy who throws a lot of fastballs can still get hurt if he isn't healthy, however it is far more likely that someone who snaps the hard slider gets injured. However there are many, many recent examples of a power pitcher getting hurt like Strasburg, Bundy, Gialito, Alexi, and more.

To be honest, I personally don't see very much hope in Alexi's future as a starter. It was a nice try, but its flamed out. Keep him in the pen

If the BP is his destination then JD and the FO should be looking hard at Bedard or Haren. Off chance of Zito. If not then we are looking at spot start platooning between now and the end of the season.

I've always said Ogando needs to be in the BP, just doesn't have the strength to pitch a full season in the rotation. Let him come in and give 1-2 innings of pure gas, that is what he is good for. When he has to hold back, that is when he gets hurt.

What's the outlook on Tep coming back? He could be the 5th starter.

I think mid September for Tepesch. Perhaps he comes back well rested and the Tepesch we saw in April-May. But until then we have a gaping hole. I know the FO has not made the decision yet on Ogando, but I think they are taking a huge risk in thinking he can come back to starter form. He has proved this year he cannot pitch three games without taking a 2-4 week DL stint.

Ogando just put on the DL, which makes room for Blackley.

Seems like I saw where he'll be back with the Sept call ups. And I agree with ya on the BP for Ogando. But remember, he did have an effective 8-10 games back 2 seasons ago. And he - according to JD - wanted the opportunity to be a starter again. I think what we're all seeing is his arm just won't hold up to that many innings, and his stuff, or lack of, probably lends itself to this direction too.

Damn.... When will the injuries stop? If only we had Oakland's luck...

Well, if I had to pick out one of our starters to go on the DL list now it would be Ogando. That's some kind of convoluted thinking perhaps, but God we've been snake bit on the starting front this season.

I think this all but assures him/us/Rangers that Alexi's value is in the BP, and the starting option window is now closed. Let's just hope, he can come back in the BP in Sept!

Bedard won't cost us much. Haren we have to eat about 3 mil and the Nats will ask for a top 15 prospect.

Should have no interest in Bedard ... OAK owns him. In 3 games this year OAK has an opponent line of .317 .491 .512 1.003 facing Bedard.

Haren ... might be a worthwhile acquisition. He's been pitching well for WSN and only one year removed from the AL. WSN probably isn't going to bet a sandwich pick for him at the end of the season and even so it will be just a draft spot years away from showing up. TEX offers a list of guys up through A+ for WSN to pick from ought to be all they get for Haren.

In six games since the break (115ABs) Haren's opponent line is .174 .228 .296 .523

Ogando just not built to a starter, hopefully back to the pen next year
I have my doubts he'll even make it through Sept assuming he comes back

He had an effective first half in 2011 and then ran out of gas. Regardless whether 8-10 games or half a season, thats not enough effectiveness for a rotation spot.
