It's that time of year again and Nebraska's recruiting is in full swing. The Huskers will have a few official visitors on campus this week (and first gameday OVs since Frost was hired) as well as a few unofficial visitors that might move the needle. Who are they? Here you go:
Bryce Benhart (4-Star, OT) [Lakeville, MN] - Nebraska had to get a special waiver for Bryce to visit due to the fact that his High School doesn't start for another week. The 6'7" Minnesota standout is a coveted offensive lineman and has long been thought to be a Wisconsin lean. However, Nebraska got in on him in June and things look to be leaning the way of the Scarlet and Cream. If Nebraska knocks the visit out of the park Benhart could be N as soon as Sunday in my opinion.
Wandale Robinson (4-Star, RB) [Frankfort, KY] - Robinson is a dynamic play maker meant for an offense like Scott Frost's... which is why he's interested. Michigan, Alabama, Kentucky and many other suitors see him in the same light. His profile will only get bigger if he continues to have games like his first game this season in which he ran for 294 yards and 5 touchdowns on only 12 touches. Nebraska is not in the lead right now but a strong visit could catapult the Big Red to the front of the pack. He's already visited Michigan and Purdue and plans to visit Alabama in a few weeks.
Tiawan Mullen (3-Star, CB) [Pompano Beach, FL] - Mullen (a four star on Rivals) is a true cover corner that lacks size [5'10" 160 lbs]. If he were bigger he'd definitely be one of the top rated corners in the country. Nebraska doesn't mind molding kids in the weight room and through nutrition however so they have Mullen high on their board. Indiana, KSU and Pitt are other suitors. He's already visited Pitt but plans on visiting Indiana and KSU in the next few weeks. Nebraska will try to get him to rethink those visits. According to multiple outlets the Huskers seem like they are in the lead right now.
Dohnovan West (3-Star, OT) [Mission Hills, CA] - While both 247 and Rivals have West listed as a tackle Nebraska sees him as a Guard or a Center at the next level. This visit is a bit out of the blue but Greg Austin really likes the kid's up side. Other schools looking at him are Utah, Boise State and Washington State. The question will be whether West sees himself as a Tackle or is he willing to try Guard?
Brant Banks (3-Star, OT/DE) [Houston, TX] - Banks is an interesting prospect. While most schools are recruiting him as an offensive tackle, Nebraska sees him as a defensive end suited for Chinander's aggressive 3-4 defense. He has the feet and the height [6'7" 265 lbs] that they would look for but also wouldn't need to pack on 40 more pounds to see the field necessarily like he would on the offensive line. Baylor is the other player with him but Nebraska seems to be in the lead.
Unofficial Visitors (confirmed)
Often there are a lot of unofficial visitors so I'm going to focus on bigger names or non-committed names from week to week that are confirmed to be visiting...
Danielson Ike (4-Star, OT) [Kansas City, MO] - Ike has long been on Nebraska's want list and given the depth issues at tackle they would definitely take Benhart and Ike and possibly another in this class. Ike already has the size (6'6" 300 lbs) and has offers from the whose who of college football but he is choosing to visit Nebraska on his own dime this weekend, which hopefully could bode well. He doesn't talk much but getting him on campus is a good sign.
Turner Corcoran (4-Star, OT) [Lawrence, KS] {2020 Class} - Turner is one of the top rated recruits in the country for the 2020 class and he lives right down the road. It's highly unlikely that the hapless Jayhawks will be able to keep the hometown behemoth in their city with the likes of Nebraska, OHio State, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama et al giving him offers. However, Corcoran would like to stay relatively close to home and Nebraska fits that bill.
