I really want Ben Johnson.

Monken feels like a good consolation prize though. He has respect around the league and has experience in multiple systems.

Johnson or McCarthy for me. If we can’t get the hot playcaller to get the offense right then just give me a proven winner.

Carroll is too old or would fit the McCarthy type bill as well.

McCarthy had more talent than just about any team in football for a couple years in Dallas. Including a monster defense. Did absolutely nothing with it.

Caught lightning in a bottle one season with the Packers when Lovie Smith was too stupid to step on their throats.

Take his SB away and no one wants the guy.

He lost to the Niners twice before last year’s debacle vs GB. Every playoff team has to have talent to get there then you need a lot of luck. McCarthy will get us there if the roster is in order. The local Chicago radio guys have it right. Ben Johnson is the roll the dice lottery ticket and McCarthy is a safe pick.

We suck so bad that the safe pick might be best for us. Even if you don’t think he can win in the playoffs (I don’t agree) we need to start making them to break this losing culture we have.

Every fucking season we get duped into hope just to realize we’re still one of the worst teams in the league. Scoffing at McCarthy is some serious beggars can’t be choosers stuff.

I would much rather they hire an NFL coordinator with years of experience over a hometown college football guy. Freeman would be a huge reach for our team in the piss poor shape it is in.

McCarthy being good enough to not be embarrassing isn't really a good selling point for me. Outside of one pretty luck SB win where every domino late in the season needed to fall his way...his resume isn't any different than so many other coaches.

I don't want safe. I want a coach that elevates talent and makes an actual difference on gameday.

Not a beggar. I'm a fan that expects a charter franchise in the countries 3rd largest market to act like they belong in the NFL.

By hiring the guy that coached the most valuable professional team in sports to 3 twelve win seasons out of 5 and has a Super Bowl on his resume, they would be acting as such. The Cowboys are worth almost twice as much as the Bears. It's really that simple.

To add on...McCarthy WALKED from this job according to Jerry Jones himself...because he was not going to tutor Jason f*cking Witten.

Dude's getting hired somewhere. Maybe us...Maybe not. I'm not against going for the gusto and hiring Ben Johnson or someone similar, but I'm definitely not going to cry if we hire McCarthy.

Marcus Freeman, on the other hand....

And what fucking retard said that?

Freeman is former linebacker. He even played for the Bears.

What comparison to McVay can possibly be made?

Talkshows.......

They say he is the next big thing.....

I have no idea.....like I sais, never heard if him until a month ago......

And these talkshows just bring up these topics just for something to talk about......

General question.
Is anyone else concerned about our HC candidates after this weekend's games?

Monken barely had King Henry on the field after the first drive. And Johnson (while his offense did put up 33 points), he called 3 "trick" plays, one backfired horribly.

One game doesn't define a coach...

...but...

Guess its unofficially official.
Ben Johnson is our new head coach.
All the news outlets are reporting it.

Didn't like how cute Johnson was at times but those flip plays are a part of his offense. A lot of his plays work because he does his homework and the offense practices them hard.

I hang the WR throw on Johnson. I don't hang Goff's 3 picks on him. And Detroit scored a lot of points and had 521 yards....outside of turnovers they did enough to win.

And for Monken....Henry was getting shit down early. Bad INT by Lamar...fumbles and drops by the skill guys. Hard to hang any of what happened on the OC.

I didn't see anything that would have turned me off to either guy.
