I'm with you, sychmd. I would MUCH prefer to see these kids sign their contracts and begin their professional development.
However, when large amounts of money are involved, I understand negotiations going down to the wire. I mean, that's the pattern with just about everything, so it's not surprising that these kids' agents (ooops, I mean "advisors") try to get every last penny by dragging things out to the last few minutes. After all, odds are that many of these kids will never make it to a mega-payday. So..... a mill here or there (or even a couple hundred thou) can make a big difference in their lives.
The good news is that most observers expect the new CBA to move up the signing deadline. Personally, I'd like to see it move up at least a month to the All-Star break.
