Potential doesn't mean anything.

If you are going to move an All star talent, you want more than potential coming back. Wiggins doesn't make their offer better than anyone else's simply because some of you think he has potential.

As a GM, you're going to want something GUARANTEED. Either quality talent you can build around that's proven, or picks.

They have that two other young players that can add something, plus 1st round picks. Then if Wiggins is truly, great it makes the trade even better.

It isn't just some player, they said he was the next Lebron in high school, I don't know about that, but you have to rely on that when trading for young assets.

They can either let Love walk for nothing, or they can get assets back for him. Wiggins is one of the best assets in the entire league because of his potential, his relatively low cost and the fact that the Wolves will be able to keep him under team control for the next 7 years. That fact cannot be overlooked when you play in a market like Minnesota.

There is no chance that the Wolves will ever get equal value in trade for Kevin Love and a collection of role players (like what OKC got for Harden) is 100% the wrong way to go.

The Bulls with Melo would be very formidable, but I don't think he will go there.

This is true, but you are missing my point. He's not gone AT THIS POINT.

They will probably wait well into the season before they move him. Flip Saunders ego is JUST THAT BIG.

How exactly?

No other team with a chance to resign Love has a tradeable asset worth anything close to Wiggins.

Any contending team would rather have Klay Thompson, but a rebuilding franchise would take Wiggins over Klay 10 times out of 10.

I don't see how you lose anymore value trading mid-season versus now. You still gambling that he will resign with your team regardless of when you trade for him. There might be more teams willing to trade for him mid-season & a bidding war commences.

And, the team trading for him runs the risk of not getting him to resign if the deal away too many assets. Cleveland will be in a very unique position if they land LeBron.

@bk. Nothing new, except that wade was at camp with lbj and he was asked a question and replied with nothing but a big smile and said life is good... that just seems telling to me.
