Really NBA?

"Before we leave, I just want to show one of my brothers something," Drake announced to the crowd. "You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us. I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen."

It is against the rules after all. Plus, I just don't like Drake.

Does Drake even get paid by Toronto?

Not sure. But he was named their ambassador. So they (the Raptors) are responsible for him. I'm just saying, if I was a member of the Thunder organization, I'd be a little annoyed.

If that billboard is real, does Thunder Dan Gilbert get a timeout like Dan Lebatard?

Dan is the man.

I love owners like dan and cuban who arent afraid to actually give their opinion instead of some white-washed cliche soundbite

unlike the new owner in LAL- wittle jimmy buss-or Dolan for the Knicks- Dan did not inherit his wealth- he was a self-made man that built himself up from nothing to a billionaire- and dan does a TON of projects to help the cities of Detroit and Cleveland economically, creating jobs etc. He has never once shied away from a move to help the Cavs because of money concerns and never will- and its one of the reasons why LeBron is back.

How can you possibly compare Cuban to Gilbert?

The only thing Gilbert is known for is his letter on the night James left and his luck in the draft lotto.

As far as spending, and give me a number, not rhetoric, how many times has he paid luxury tax since he's owned the Cavs?

Moving forward, damn right he'll spend, because James has him by the short hairs with his annual opt outs.

The fun will start next year.
You will basically be capped out with 3 players.
James buddy Andy becomes a FA. How much will he alone probably cost Gilbert next year?

Lebron went back given the pieces that the Cavs have. If Irving bolted to a team like the Lakers and Kevin Love voiced strongly that he didn't want to play for the Cavs, Lebron would be in Miami or he'd be with another team that's built to compete for titles. Lebron's return to Cleveland isn't as pure as Cavs fans would like to think - although that shouldn't detract from the fact that he's in Cleveland now.

Dan Gilbert let it be known what type of person he was the day Lebron left for Miami - a self-centered douche bag. Why did Lebron leave in the first place?

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Mark Cuban. But don't mention Cuban and Gilbert in the same breath. Cuban will spend to put a competitive product on the court - always has, and probably always will. As Turnup mentioned, Gilbert's now forced to pay the luxury tax because if not, Lebron's going to bolt again.

I know it felt good to hear Lebron say he's not ever leaving again.

I really hope that's true.

Because, he will get murderlated if he ever skedaddles again:lol:.

I think Dan's HYPOCRISY knows no bounds in relation to the NBA.

* he has his very own Superteam *

But, don't hate the Playa :pound:......

Thanks again for CP3, Dan!

Gilbert paid the luxury tax big time Lebron's last 3 years in Cleveland- like i said- he had a top3 payroll in the NBA in Cleveland! - he has never once shied away from anykind of deal because of salary concerns

do you know how much he paid to get the Clippers #1 pick the year it turned into Kyrie? the Clippers pick was looking to be anywhere from 6-10 in the lotto- the Cavs took on Baron Davis' ridiculous contract for a broken down player-

Gilbert basically paid like 20 million dollars to get an extra #1 pick- which turned out to be brilliant since it landed them Kyrie

in order to get the extra picks that became karasev and zeller- 2 guys that helped faciltate the return of JAmes- the Cavs took on the last 2 years of Walton's terrible deal from the Lakers and spent near 10 million

why did the Cavs want the Haywood contract SOOO bad from the Hornets? because next year- after the amneisted years run out on Haywoods deal- he has a 10.5M team option- the Cavs will use to take some other teams bad contract in order to add another talented piece---- even though it will cost them a ton of money and send them flying into tax range

you wont find the Cavs winning a title after LeBron agrees to take a paycut and then LOWERING the payroll but amnestying a guy who basically single handedly won a finals game just to save a few bucks on the luxury tax- that is for sure like mickey did

lol-

well - Dan is WILLING to pay for it- he is not going to be a hypocrite and ask teh players to take paycuts and then go out and cut the payroll to save a few bucks on the luxury tax

can you believe the audacity of an owner doing that? asking guys to take paycuts for the good of the team- but then amnestying a key role player because they want to save some cash on the tax?

its insane- and is without a doubt a piece of the puzzle why Lebron is in Cleveland- it may not be a big piece- but it is a piece- because Lebron knows Gilbert will spare no expense- he never has and never will

The Dude reminds me of Vince McMahon from the WWE.

He loves to insert himself into the storyline:doh:.

But by all accounts, Cuban is a great Owner and his players absolutely LOVE him.

That's why I was so shocked that they got spurned by every top Free Agent over the last few years:noidea:.

Gilbert is not going to pay 80 million in tax like the Russian- but after they use that Haywood contract- and get into repeater range (which will take a couple years)- he will definitely be in the 40-50 M range is my guess

You gotta pay to play.

That's why I won't have any sympathy for the Thunder if they lose Durant.

How many times does the Dude have to be a bridesmaid before you decide to pay a 4th guy?

It bugs me when people say a Team "CAN'T pay to keep their teams in tact.

There is a huge difference between can't and WON'T.

I'm not saying you hand out max deals to the entire roster.

But, letting Green, then Harden, then Martin walk over cash has clearly hurt that team.

And by then the new TV deal will be in place.

So, he won't care.

People, usually you:lol:, don't want to acknowledge the advantage the Lakers have over other teams.

That TV deal gives them enough to cover all of the Teams salary and large portion of the Luxury tax.

That is huge when building a team.

Soon, your team will enjoy the same benefit.

what should also be interesting is seeing how high the cap/tax-line go in the next few years. - also what the status of max contracts will be

the only reason the players have all this power right now is because of the max-contract- if they find a way to abolish that to a certain extent the power goes backtothe owners hands- all though the owners will be ponying up a lot more $$$$$$$

what i think SHOULD happen---

each team should be able to designate one "super max" player- where they can offer that player- basically whatever they want (subject to some kind of cap- like i dunno,40million a year or something)---- but only the current "max contract figure" (which is 30% of the cap) counts against the teams payroll

so it would be somehing like this

say the cap goes up to 80 milllion acouple years from now from the about 65 million its at now--- a max player gets 30% of that

30% x 80 = 24m- and of course you get your built in raises etc.....

so- a team can designate a guy - such as LeBron- as their "super max" player- they can offer him whatever they want subject to some arbitrary number that is designated b negotiatons between the players association and the league- say its 50 million just for shits and giggles

so LeBron would be getting paid 50 million a year - but only 24 would go against the cap-

and each team would have the ability to do this for one player

it effectively destroys super-teams- AND gets the best players in the NBA more cash- which they clearly deserve when guys like Gordon Heyward are getting paid 15 million a year when LeBron is getting 20 million a year.

He actually never said never.

I think it was something more along the lines of exactly what he said in February when he said he couldn't envision himself playing anywhere but Miami.

LOL.
