Lakers can use KCP to match the salary, and he's an expiring contract. They are also thin at SG, so KCP could give them some useful minutes.
Thinking adding a dime a dozen player or a guy with an expiring deal appeals to them. Clearly, top guys are not looking to NO as a FA destination.

What will appeal to them is expiring salary, young talent, and draft picks. Nobody is looking to trade an established star for another established star, so that is off the menu.

Thinking they could do better than KCP if they want an expiring deal to match. I wouldn't be shocked if they'd include Tatum in Boston. Very good player but he's not KD.

Who is the better expiring deal in Boston this summer (which they would be stuck with for a full year, not just the balance of this season as they would be with KCP? $30M of old Al Horford? $67M over 2 years of post-injury Hayward?

I don't think expiring deals is really what they want. Like someone said, they aren't going to be able to use that cap space to get into the Durant sweepstakes or anything.

So young talent or picks. Preferably if it's not LA, take a shot at unprotected 2022 or 2023 picks, where they'd be in that year after Davis left them.
