Bears to add more DEs?
11:06 AM ET
Chicago Bears
After it became clear that the Chicago Bears would not be getting Mario Williams, the attention turned to who they would be targeting at DE. Step 1 was re-signing Israel Idonije and that move was taken care of by Thursday evening. So what's next?
Three current FA names to keep in mind are Andre Carter, John Abraham and Mark Anderson, the latter of whom had 12.0 sacks in his rookie season with Chicago back in 2006 before fizzling out in later seasons. But one player who will potentially enter the mix for every team that needs a pass-rusher later on Friday is Kamerion Wimbley. Wimbley's current contract is of the cap-unfriendly variety, and is expected to be released by the Oakland Raiders before his bonus is due at 4 p.m. EST. It's also possible that the Bears will use an early-round draft pick on a pass-rusher.
Or, will Chicago just stick with Idonije as the starter opposite Julius Peppers? ESPN NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert ponders that possibility:

Do the Bears want Idonije to start?
"The question is whether the Bears intend for Idonije to resume his full-time role, or if their pursuit of Jeremy Mincey (and possibly others) indicate they will continue searching for another starting option. The Bears don't have much depth at the position, which is why they were forced to play Idonije -- a longtime reserve/swing lineman -- on 84.4 percent of their defensive spans last season."
