Within minutes of release becoming official, ex-49ers CB Shawntae Spencer told me he received phone call from Texans DBs coach Vance Joseph.

Joseph was with the 49ers from '05-'10. In '05 he was the assistant secondary coach. The following year he was promoted to secondary coach and shared duties with Johnnie Lynn until '10, when Lynn left football due to personal reasons. Joseph is very well respected.

12:15 RELEASE! The 49ers have announced the release of CB Shawntae Spencer who was due to earn $3.3 million this season. Spencer registered only 87 snaps in six games under new head coach Jim Harbaugh failing to find a spot on the defense and being firmly marginalized on playing time. Spencer didn’t fare much better during 2010 which saw his last period of extended playing time allowing a 70.1% completion percentage in 2010 on his way to a -7.9 overall grade.

Matt Flynn - QB - Packers

Free agent QB Matt Flynn is not expected to receive "starter" money if he signs with the Seahawks.
Flynn is still waiting for the Peyton Manning drama to play out to see if his market develops. In the mean time, the Seahawks' moves to bring in Flynn and Chad Henne suggest they're looking for a quarterback to compete with Tarvaris Jackson rather become the face of the franchise.

Free agent ILB London Fletcher "remains on the radar" after the Redskins early flurry of free agent moves.
"I'm not going to hide behind the fact that we love London," GM Bruce Allen recently said. "We hope he's a Redskin." We've yet to see reports of other teams interested in bringing in the 37-year-old stalwart.
