QB Alex Smith is not committed to the 49ers for the first time since the day he was drafted in 2005. He's been on the market for 30 minutes.

With the numbers @ProFootballTalk reported, Josh Morgan got more from the Redskins than Randy Moss got from the 49ers.

I was going off the 2 yr $6 million reported earlier, not the $12 million w/ 7.5 guaranteed. That is a little steep - $6 million per for a guy that never even came close to 1000 yards? I mean yes our offense isn't a crazy passing attack but that's a far stretch based on potential.

Even Kyle Orton is getting some action.

Kyle Orton making a visit - Dallas Cowboys Blog - ESPN Dallas

Flynn might go to Miami, Peyton to Denver or Tennessee, whoever loses out on Peyton will probably stick with Tebow or Locker. What's left for Alex Smith?
It's either Cleveland or Seattle or the 49ers. But Cleveland has two firsts they might draft a QB, and Seattle is bringing in Henne.

So if Alex Smith were to go somewhere else, it sounds like to me he'd have to accept a smaller pay check and compete for the starting job. Nothing would be handed to him.

Washington proves they are stupid again. 3 free agent WRs? Where does that leave Santana Moss? Suppose Morgan ends up being the 4th WR do you really want to pay your 4th WR $12M w/$7.5M guaranteed? Does Morgan want to be a #4 WR after being the #2 here?

And Eddie Royal got a 2 year deal for $12M.

Stupid, stupid Redskins. First giviing up three #1's and a #2 and now loading up on too many WRs.

Where are the Skins getting this money from if they have to give back 18m in cap space this year?

With Miami trading Marshall, AZ not cutting Kolb before the deadline and the texans with shaub.

Also A. Smith not having a contract yet, you would have to think we have a decent shot at Manning right now. Denver seems more likely but its a possibility.

Yeah, I can't really agree with you on that. After watching the 49ers Super Bowl chances slip away with injuries to Braylon, Joshua and Ted... and looking at a league that is set up for explosive passing attacks with friendly rules to QBs and WRs. You can never have too many WRs.

Especially when you're about to develop a young QB.

Stephen Holder:

Acc to agent Bucs have "expressed interest" in QB David Carr. Other teams appear interested too. Bucs bracing to lose backup Josh Johnson

Bucs have been in contact with Mike Tolbert as well, but I would not expect an immediate decision with him. Has interest from numerous teams

----

La Canfora:

Still hearing Eddie Royal to the Skins, while possible, is not done. Several teams still making a strong push for him #freeagency

Just putting this out there... The Redskins are projected to pick RG3 in the draft... It's is quiet possible that they intend to tailor their offense to suit the talents of RG3 by shifting to a more of a spread multiple receiver look...

Why would the Bucs want Tolbert? Do they want a clone of LeGarrett Blount?

Tolbert is a far superior player on 3rd downs. Blocking and catching.
