Matt Barrows ‏ @mattbarrow

The 49ers have not reached out to WRs Robert Meachem or Laurent Robinson at this point, according to sources.

i think we are looking to replace him with a rookie we got back 2 of are 3 studs on ST who can contribute on the field as well Gooden and CJ

You are forgetting about Collin Jones who was a rookie special teams player last year... Costanzo right now is a victim of the numbers game.... Unlike Gooden and Spillman, Costanzo is strictly a special teams guy...

Looks like they are possibly content with Moss signing and getting a WR or 2 in the draft.

Figured Costanzo would be back since he is a favorite of Seely. But they will get a cheaper altenative. Sucks but not earth shattering.

Surprised we couldn't offer Morgan something better than 2 yrs $6 million. Hell we gave more to Moss if he reaches incentives...

And there goes my hope to sign Royal.

Surprised we make no play for Rogers or Costanzo

from my point of view, seems like we have a view of cap numbers for each player. they give the guy a contract and if their agent says, we want more, niners FO says, go see what u can get.

if rogers doesn't get what he wants, i could see him resigning, assuming we dont land carr

With the numbers @ProFootballTalk reported, Josh Morgan got more from the Redskins than Randy Moss got from the 49ers.

Player valuation. Those two offers are probably more than they want to spend.

I get that part - but I have to believe he would have taken less $$ to stay with the 49ers and and I can't believe he is being sought after to start at LB - So I wonder how far apart his offers are from the other teams and what he is willing to take from us. And did we even tender an offer?

I would have offered Morgan something similar to what the Redskins offered. Wonder what the 49ers had him valued at?

I love the Cox signing, liked him coming out of college.

I really liked Costanzo, but i think the days of strictly being a ST player are somewhat closing. With the moving up of the kickoffs, that's one less scenerio where those type of guys can make an impact. (I am by no means dimishing the impact of ST units, just an observation).

WR Josh Morgan agrees to five-year deal with Redskins that will void to two years. Worth up to $12 million. $7.5 million "guaranteed."

Schefter repeating what many others already have:

Redskins do not yet have an agreement with free-agent WR Eddie Royal, but both sides working to get a deal done.

Our focus this off-season should be to free up ST's spots wherever possible to shift help to the offense.

Eric Branch:

Just spoke with #49ers Blake Costanzo. The special-teams standout said he hasn't heard much from #49ers, but is getting other interest: "I’ve definitely been in contact with three or four teams and they’re definitely serious about invtesting in my future."

#49ers Blake Costanzo said he's been in touch with Brad Seely, his ST coach past 3 years in SF and Cleveland: "Obviously he wants me back. Unfortunately, coach Seely is just a coach and he doesn’t make decisions. I wish he did. Unfortunately, I think they pay some guys some big bucks to make those other decisions."
