I think Bolles is the biggest key to the OL. LT protecting a young QB’s blindside. But I would much rather struggle at RT than LT.

I'm guessing it is about 60-40 nowadays on whether the edge rusher comes from the right or left side of the equation. It just isn't as clear a call as it used to be.

The interior of our O-Line is looking pretty good. If we can effectively run it right up the gut then our passing game is really going to open up. Defenses won't be able to send so much pass rush and Defensive Backs will have to stay closer to the LOS. We'll still have weak OT's but that should help, anyway. As much as I've heard that Shurmur is a 3WR guy I am intrigued by the new TE. He played with Lock in college and, from what little I've heard, was not bad at run blocking while still being pretty quick, with decent hands. I would like to see what they can do with 2WR/2TE/1RB. I'm daydreaming about being able to run it right up the gut and then still send 5 guys out in threatening patterns from the same formation with the same look.

I did like the RT that played the last 2 games he seemed to be solid.

So yes you want your LT to be Decent.

Bowles gets flack and needs to get flack but he is decent at not getting our QB hit by his player! and that is a good thing.

His holds need to stop and yes most of his holds are silly ones where the play is already gone and done. So yes he is a head-scratcher there for sure.,

I think you are correct about that Crash - he does try too hard. He gets holding calls that way. That should be correctable. He has the physical skills and he wants to play well. I haven't given up on him.

Melvin Gordon thinks Broncos will make better use of him than Chargers did - ProFootballTalk



Melvin Gordon had an up-and-down relationship with the Chargers, making a couple Pro Bowls during his five seasons there but also expressing displeasure with his contract before leaving in free agency this year. Now, Gordon says, he’s in a better place.

Gordon thinks the Big Ten background of Broncos offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is the right fit for the running style Gordon showed off in college.

“They run a lot of inside zones, and that’s what I did a lot at Wisconsin,” Gordon told Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. “It’s going to really help me get back in the feel of what I do best. I’m an inside-zone runner.”

Gordon said that in the Chargers’ offense, he felt like a square peg getting pounded into a round hole.
“It really didn’t play out to my strengths, especially the first couple years there,” Gordon said. “I kind of just had to adjust and make it work. It kind of wasn’t a system built for me. But I feel like Denver kinda runs my style of football, and I think it’s a great fit.”

With Gordon joining running back Phillip Lindsay in Denver, the Broncos expect the running game to take pressure off quarterback Drew Lock, and expect to gain plenty of yards on the ground.



After reading this morning. I thought about this today and I am now a little more stocked about getting him. We are running Inside zone still? Well, that could make him a 5 yard per carrying player.

I also heard him talk some and he is not too bad of a guy. Still not a fan of his hold out so there is that.

all the same I am now fine with this pick up now that I realize we are using Inside zone Running.

I thought were moving to power.

With the strength of our O-Line being the interior, that sounds good to me. Lindsay reminds me a bit of Portis once he stopped bouncing outside so much. For a little guy he runs inside really well. I didn't know enough about Gordon to know that he feels like he's a natural inside runner. That's promising. I know we're in the land of the Fluff Piece right now but this is nice.

Gotta side with ol' CEH on this one because Lock rolls to his right much better than his left.
