Why cant the entire league go into a bubble in So Cal?

Fun idea to discuss

You could host the entire league in SD/LA area with 4 stadiums.

Sd, LaCol, SofI, Rose Bowl And many college venues empty since Pac 12 is deferring .

Play Saturday , Sunday 2 games each day. 2 games x 2 days X 4 stadiums = 16 games

They did not know the Pac 12 was deferring and basically opening up So Cal for NFL football on Saturday and Sunday


Right now players will most likely contact corona outside the facility anyways. You let players go home to family. Family members are living their lives.

Who's to say a player acquires the virus Sunday night, , tests negative on Monday morning ( who knows how accurate these tests are initially ) , practices, comes back Tuesday test positive and basically had it Monday at practice.

Ask Chiefs how the salary cap next year affects their signings.

The Chiefs are one of the loudest protesters about the cap dropping to $170M. That's not official yet either. The league is required under the Anti-Trust laws to follow certain guidelines or be in violation. If revenues drop because of no ticket sales and sales of concessions, they must drop the cap equal to the annual gross income.

If revenues fall to the anticipated levels that are being predicted, the owners are willing to spread it over three years and pray to every football God that a cure or vaccine is found in 2021. They will not be able to spread two years of losses over three years, it will have to be 5.

More and more owners are leaning to a massive cap hit in 2021 with no draft. If that happens, the cap will be cut to somewhere between $128M-$135M for 2021. The only players that will be able to keep their contracts with the same team are QBs. No one will keep $17M OTs or $18M WRs. There will be some extensions but teams won't be able to screw around with huge bonuses and try to spread them over 4 or 5 years. You won't see $50M guaranteed either. Covid is having a real wake up call in the NFL.

They absolutely must have a season because there will still be revenue but it will be even worse than the unknown season ahead.

With there being a limited to no college football season, I wonder if the NFL will be able to capitalize on adding games on Saturday to have more games available to a national audience.

As much as I like Justin Simmons (he is one of my favorite players) I don't disagree with not giving him a long term deal until there is a more clarity on what the Salary cap is in the next few years.

It appears that the only major conference that has not cancelled is the SEC. They seem bound and determined to played some kind of schedule in 2020.

My grandson(QB/WR)was trying to get into Kentucky and was told he wasn't rejected but it would be a late admission. He waited until April and didn't hear so he decided to go to a local school and play Div. III because he wants to get a degree as much as he wants to play football. Now Mark Stoops (HC UK) is trying to get him to go south. He told Stoops last week that he committed to PSU and has his classes, room assignment and his grandfather has paid his tuition already. He'll re-apply to Kentucky for the Fall 2021 semester in January.
