Who you think will be the target of an attempted poach. I think at this point targeting any HUGE name player, ie Stamkos, will backfire in the immediate future when you may have to deal with that GM.

However, I can see a player like Duby from the Rags or Turris from Phoenix possibly getting a sheet.

possible on Dubinsky depending what they offer for Brad Richards ... i dont think so on Turris because Phoenix needs to meet the cap floor

TB has room to match whatever is through to Stamkos, same with LA and Doughty, and Tor with Luke Schenn
Weber and Parise has elected aribtration, so they are off the table.

Dubinsky, Oshie and Brandon Sutter are interesting, but again none of their teams are tight to the wall.
Kieth Yandle might be interesting, as Pho has the room, but do they have the budget. maybe no one will want to poach from the NHL owned team

in summary, I don't think there will be much poaching going on this year, with everyone having an extra $4m in cap room to absorb any damage.

I thought Shea Weber and Zach Parise might get offer sheets, but Nashville and New Jersey put the kibosh on that by taking them to arbitration.

As previously mentioned, Tampa will match any offer sheet for Stamkos, so I don't see any team going that route.

If Tampa will match any offer, why not just give the kid what he wants now?

I think it's called the wonderful world of negotiations and trying to get the best deal possible. Both sides have yet to agree on a deal that makes sense from their point of view.

What kind of dollar figure and length of deal would you like Homer to present Stamkos with?

Stevie is said to be offering around 7 mil. A team will have to blow them out of the water to match it. I am thinking 8.5 but that may get matched. 9 mil is the most I think we would offer IF we can move versteeg and maybe Carle.

Length, I think would be for a long long time. I can see a 10 year offer sheet. Whatever it is, it will have to be crazy.

10 years at an average if 9 mil per year is the only I dont think will get matched.

Not drugs, its called being a philadelphia sports writer. But now we are all intrigued. Happens all the time.

I mean, I know that guys want to take anything they hear and make it bigger than it is. I imagine it was something like this:

"Hey Homer! How's building the roster going?"
"Pretty good Mr. (Philly Sports Writer). Just shuffling some things around and seeing what our best options are."
"Those playoffs were good, eh?"
"Yeah, I'll tell ya Stamkos looked real good in the Conference Finals. *continues to talk about other players who played well"
**Sports writer completely checks out of conversation and begins to think of how to word his Stamkos to Philly rumor**
