Yes, it looks as if he has come to grips with some of his shortcomings:

“We’re not teaching [players] what to do,” he said. “We were teaching guys what to do Game 8, 9, 10, 11 last year. At this point in time offensively … they’re learning nuances of where they’re supposed to be and how they’re supposed to get there.”

I agree with you.

Had the previous coach done a better job recruiting quality kids who were willing to become Mountaineers, Dana would not have had to do a start over with his offense last year.

Can you really stick your head any farther in the sand, he said he realized he wasnt doing an effective job teaching the kids................. Strange that those no talent bums that Stewart recruited went 9-4 three years in a row, 10-3 one year with a HUGE Orange bowl win, started the next year top 10 ranked, ran through their first five games setting records, moving up to a top 5 ranking, THEN, and on;y then was their lack of talent exposed, and then only against lesser teams, they could compete down for down with OU, Texas, and OSU, but lacked the talent or depth to compete with IAST, Kansas, and Syracuse,:wtf2: get real.......

Please explain why Dana had to recruit so many JUCO's to fill the void at so many skill positions last year?

You've got to have a clue.

I would appreciate if you said a prayer for me at church tomorrow. I need to find a way out of the sand...

Just like Frosh he had to teach them all season long since they were immediately thrown into the fire.

Could someone please list the great recruits of Stew? I can only think of three and they couldn't carry the whole team once we got to the big 12. I mean if DH only win because of stews guys why did we go 7-5 our first year in big 12? Shouldn't a bunch of stews guys still been around dominating like we did in BE ?

Once again though the original argument is lost we have to go back to how great stew was, even though he is partly responsible for the lack of depth we have faced for the last couple of years....a argument some of us brought up before DH was ever even mentioned as coming to WVU.

Damn DC, you blew my thunder.

I was waiting to see if DAD would admit he didn't understand Dana's point about his WR's. Based on his post, it's obvious DAD totally missed it.

No argument was lost, Holgorsen's teams have gotten worse, NOT better. We are in year FOUR, where is HIS QB? Where are HIS WRs? Why is a fourth year coach so dependent on players left by his predecessor? Last year, the team beat OSU, played toe to toe with Texas and OU, had IAST down by 24 in the 4th, THAT is not talent lacking, it is coaching and leadership!!!!!

Why are you so negative?? You claim to be religious and a church goer doesn't your God teach you to have faith? Try Praying for your God to give Holersen the knowledge to be a successful coach.

I will pray to my God to change your heart so you can see the world in a more positive light.

We will make it to a bowl this year, and we will beat Bama.

DC, Holgorsen HAS failed, what I am hoping and praying for is that Luck sees this and doesnt keep Holgorsen around long enough to turn WVU football into a complete joke. Hol;gorsen may be a great position coach, even OC, but he is NOT a HC. I want WVU to win, and from what I have seen to date, it is not going to happen with Holgorsen running the program. Many on here keep making excuses for him, rather than looking at the facts, the team has performed worse, the morale has been missing, the conditioning has disappeared, the greatest QB coach ever (per some) cant get a QB to learn his offense. I see a guy who doesnt get what it means to be a HC, and I believe for the good of WVU football down the road, Holgorsen needs to go.

Would it be better that DH actually does well and we start winning now? Remember Nick Saban at Michigan State. One winning season 7-5 in his first 4 years at the helm. Most new HCs all go through the learning process and it usually takes some time. Sounds like you really want us to suck it up this year so we get DH fired.:wtf2:

I do not like Holgorsen but was willing to put up with him until the last two games of last season. A close loss to Texas, then must win games against the worst two teams in the league to make a bowl and possible winning season. The loss to Kansas was inexcusable, they are a very poor team, from top to bottom, THEN the home loss to IAST after having the big lead. Holgorsen has the program headed in the wrong direction. IF the team started the season poorly, and got better through the year, I would think that they are receiving effective coaching, but that is not what we see, the team is making the same errors in game 12 as game 1, the lack of teaching the QB from a supposed offensive genius, the revolving door of DCs, I see a man in so deep over his head that the future of the program is looking bleak. What will be good this year, if WVU finishes 4-8 again, will you still say Holgorsen is a good coach with shitty players? If, like someone said in another thread, WVU loses to 1AA Towson, will you still make excuses? What if WVU goes two years from now with losing seasons? Will you still say he is good?
I would love to see WVU in the top 10, I would love to be able once again to enjoy WVU football, to go into each game expecting to win, see WVU crowned "champion" but I just do not see it with this coach.

Do a little research, Saban took over a team that had gone 16-18 the previous three seasons at MSU, they had not had a winning season for five years prior to his arrival, and were under NCAA sanctions. MSU went to a bowl game in each of Saban's first three years. Saban was only at MSU for five years, and had a 34-24-1 record, after going 19-16-1 in his first three years. Holgorsen took over a team that had been 27-12 in the previous three years....... Hardly apples to apples!!!
