I wonder how many Shortstop/Catcher combos have both won a SS/GG in the same year? (Posey should have won the GG, but whatever).

Crawford did not win Wilson's GG this year, though...

Is this the first year that Wilson is giving their version out?

Simmons (who was just traded!?!?!) won the Wilson glove award.

I honestly don't even know if it's the first year for Wilson. I didn't know there were multiple ones until yesterday.

Regardless, the point I wanted to make (in which we already know) is that it's pretty awesome that the Giants have the premier offensive AND defensive player at two of the most crucial positions in the game.

Also, this just hit me, Simmons was just traded to the AL, so Crawford could possibly become the yearly guy at SS.

Yup.

I glanced at the Braves blogosphere and they were going nuts that Craw won the GG over Simmons.

While I acknowledge that Simmons is probably the premiere defensive SS in the game, in general, Crawford is an absolute stud in his own right, and AT WORST, belongs in the convo. The posts and write-ups that I saw basically ignored this fact, and acted like they handed the award to the defensive equivalent of Jesus Guzman instead of Simmons.

While Posey deserved the award over Molina, it isnt like they gave the award to Mike Piazza instead. The award did go to a worthy defensive player.

And it looks like the Wilson award is an MLB award, not an AL/NL award. So Posey taking that is arguably more prestigious than Molina getting the GG (and Simmons getting it is equally more prestigious than Craw getting the GG)

Not so shocking, Kris Bryant wins ROTY unanimously. Duffy finished second though, receiving 22 of the 30 second place votes. Amazingly, 4 writers left Duffy off the ballot.

not bad for a kid who wasnt even supposed to make the team, let alone start at 3B or bat 3rd.

And yet I read an article somewhere the other day that suggested Arroyo's path to the big leagues in SF was at 3B because the Giants are locked in with Craw and Panik at SS and 2B.

That is years away.

Who knows if Panik's back will allow him to continue to play? Who knows if Craw's bat will continue to develop or regress? Who knows if Craw's size will begin to wear on his defensive ability? Who knows if Duffy will continue to show that hard work and preparation can overcome a lack of natural ability?

Arroyo is still 2-3 years away from requiring a starting job (as Marco spelled out). Plenty of time for things to iron themselves out.

Panik finished 6th in ROY voting in '14 and became arguably the best 2B in the NL in '15. That means Duffy should be the best player in all of baseball in '16 since he finished 2nd in the ROY race in '15.

Buster finished 9th in MVP, Bum finished 6th in CY and Bochy was the only non-playoff manager to receive any MOY love (he finished 5th)
