OEQ (overrated efficiency quotient) is a stat created to put an efficiency rating to your overrating skills. The wonderful thing about this stat is you and the athlete finally get to share a stat!!! Unless Bynum or Rose is your favorite player in which case you guys shared all of your stats last year, until we get to the tax brackets of course.

Do not be fooled by the jargon, or technical mumbo jumbo, the lowest score possible is what you are looking for despite efficiency being in the name of the stat.

The formula is simple enough and produces what we here at the lab like to refer to as "accurate results".

OEQ=((T-Y)^2)/10

T=True ranking (constant)
Y=Your ranking (variable)

Confusing I know, I have already tested this on a fairly popular and often overrated player.

Kobe:

Kobe has an assigned value of 15, so plugging that into the OEQ formula...

T=15 (constant)
Y=? (variable)
OEQ= let's test some results!!!


Let's say you rank Kobe #9 all time. So here Y=9. When we plug that in we see that 15-9=6. 6^2=36. 36/10=3.6 for an OEQ of 3.6. Not bad, you only rate Kobe higher 3.6 OEQ higher than he should be and in this case Kobe is in fact earning a number of 3.6 OEQ, not a bad clip.


Now let's say a man has Kobe rated #2, we will call this person S. In this case doing the math we see than S who is a man carries a whopping 16.9 OEQ!!!! If any of you are hoping to overrate Kobe higher let's just say your work is cut out for you.

I love the concept, but the ^2 in your formula messes it up for the underranking. Let's say Wade is the #15 player, but I hate him and rank him 50th. 15-50=-35. But because you square it you now get 122.5 OEQ, saying I'm still OVERranking Wade.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the in lab team we have and some high end outside consulting the formula has been shown to have a major draw back. It only calculates overrating. For the better of humanity we have devised a system (with modified point values) so that UEQ (underrated efficiency quotient).

The new formula is as follows:

AMEV=((T-Y)*3)/10

T=True ranking (constant)
Y=Your ranking (variable)

The acronym has been amended to show the new improved including both over and underrating a player. Also the result is no longer a quotient.

MEV stands for Average Misrated Efficiency Value.
