Last year, Northwestern barely won and it was because of bad pass defense and a lack of a rush. Which gave Clayton Thorson all the time he needed to shred Nebraska. Clayton is gone.

Northwestern could not run on Nebraska last year, and I expect the same for 2019. But, Bowser burned his redshirt and led Northwestern in rushing. Won't matter, Northwestern O line is not that good.

In 2019, the Nebraska pass defense will be better and the run defense will be just as stout. at least against Northwestern.

If Nebraska finds a running game with Dedrick Mills or Rahmir Johnson, the Nebraska O Line will give them running room. Running up the middle should be easy, and make the linebackers spend more time inside freeing up the speed plays for the outside.

Adrian Martinez will have a field day against the NW pass defense. And if there is coverage, he can use his speed to scramble and cause Northwestern problems. Look for outside screens to JD Spielman or Wandale Robinson since the linebackers will be defending inside too much. if either of the backs can catch out of the backfield, those throws in the flat to a RB could be devastating.

Northwestern against Stanford

Northwestern was one of a few teams to start a new QB in the B1G. Northwestern lost.

Northwestern misses Thorson. Their transfer Qb stunk. Their backup QB stunk and was knocked out of the game and will miss the rest of the season.

Northwestern could not pass.
Northwestern could not run.
Their QBs were turnover machines.

At this point in time, Northwestern looks to be equivalent to 2017 Nebraska under Mike Riley.

Nebraska still wins this one.

Nebraska's defense should be able to stuff Northwestern.

As long as Adrian does not turn the ball over, this game should be decided early.

if I was Nebraska, I am running the I formation, with Dedrick as fullback, Washington/Robinson/Johnson as iback, and just run the ball down their throats with speed on the edges. I do not think Northwestern could stop this. Why run this? Put Adrian under center and get rid of the high snaps that are freaking Adrian out. Nebraska has the speed to do it.

I might even run it the next four games.

yea, i've watched them several times. it's not a fine tune machined, kinda like our own. their QB has some run game so hopefully we can shut that down.

their D is decent though, hopefully our OL plays a lot better than they did against OSU.

Davis was also issued a public reprimand from the league for violating the Big Ten's sportsmanship policy after striking an opposing player near the 9:18 mark of the first quarter against Ohio State on Saturday.

Exactly how the incident occurred is unclear from the ABC broadcast. The 9:18 mark was Ohio State's first play of its second drive, which was a 15-yard run by J.K. Dobbins to the right side. Davis can be seen falling on OSU sophomore offensive lineman Josh Myers toward the end of the play. No flags were thrown.
