Here's how I know Roger Goodell hates the Bengals. Jerome Simpson run a drug smuggling operation and get a 3 game suspension after he leaves for another team. Mikel Leshoure gets arrested for marijuana possession and only gets a 2 game suspension. While Dontay Moch takes medicine for his migraine headaches and get a 4 game suspension. The punishment does not fit the crime when compared to the other two players.

Moch failed a drug test. Failing a drug test gets you a 4 game suspension. No conspiracy here.

The Steelers fans think he hates them based on all the suspensions/fines for the roid animal.

The truth is that the rules are stupid and inconsistent. It's 4 games mandatory for a failed drug test even if the 'banned' substance was simply a dietary supplement. Meanwhile, it's arbitrary when you break the law (including if you are caught with an illegal substance).... To be clear, it's mandatory 4 games if it's in your piss and arbitrary if it's in your house/car.

not to single out Moch, because maybe his excuse is legit..

but every time a player gets caught with a PED in their system it was some sort of false positive test result. i don't buy it.

I also don't care if a player is using recreational drugs on their own time. PEDs are a different story, particularly in a physical sport like sport like football.

That's why the rule is so strict for PEDs..... The NFL knows what the roids era did to baseball's credibility -- It was a PR nightmare and it would be worse in a sport that's predicated on physical strength. I do understand the reasons for the 'bans' when players get caught - They are given every available resource to play by the rules and they still fuck up.

But the NFL does lose credibility with how other penalties/bans are applied. That's why the common fan 'hates' Roger Goodel.

The problem is, they need to have more rigid rules/guidelines with regards to the subjective matter of "breaking the law".

If you get arrested, one game suspension for first offense. Even if charges are dropped.

If you get arrested and charges stick, you get 3 games for first offense

etc..etc...I'm not saying those rules I listed are what they should be, but they should have more concrete guidelines on how things will be handled and then guys couldn't complain. Until then, it's up to Roger and how he's feeling that day, which it shouldn't be like that.

If you dont do this then you ARE A DUMB ASS! Stay proactive Stay accountable to prevent suspensions....This shit aint rocket science!

There is actually a phone number all NFL players have, and it's 24 hours a day. They have a list of banned substances, and can also tell you if something you are about to take has anything in it you shouldn't be taking.

When players say "Well, I didn't know" that's B.S. They didn't care enough to find out.

Not to mention an entire training staff...... NFL players can bring any drug or any supplement to the head trainer and let them help.

Then again, almost every team in the league provides a car service for players that are too drunk to drive..... Yet, those players still end up getting DUIs.

The story, as always, is that these guys are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

It's not even that they're not "smart". It's that they simply don't care enough to think about it. They think that a Dr. is giving it to them, so it is Ok. They have to realize that even with a Dr. prescribing medicine...they need to have it checked out.

As for the drunk driving, that they simply don't think it will happen to them. Same people that are not major leaguers or NFL or NBA players make the same idiotic judgement every night.

Not caring enough to think about the consequences of losing 4 game checks is stupid.

Believing that you are above the law or that you will not get caught when breaking the law is stupid.

Make no mistake - The NFL is littered with ignorance.

Coddled, coddled, coddled.

They make at a minimum what? They should be able to afford their own damn taxi or shuttle. However, t he NFL gives them one to use. They have a complete list of drugs they cannot use, and an entire training staff. Moch had migranes...ever heard of Excedrine Moch? I have to imagine Advil or Aleve is not a banned substance.

Looking for those protein drinks and what not? Check your list, consult your trainer who is available to you 24/7. How freaking hard is it? THis is a short period in your life that you get to play NFL football, and for some, real short. Do the right f'n thing and cross your T's and dot your freaking I's. Play by the rules, work hard, ask a lot of questions, be the best you can be...inside the rules. I don't feel sorry for him.

Agreed...my point was, though, that every day americans (people across the world as well) make the same idiotic choices when doing things such as drinking and driving...or taking drugs and then getting fired/suspended from work.

It's only "news" because athletes are "stars" and followed everywhere. But, the fact is..the NFL, and other sports, is just a microcosm of society in general.

Except for the fact these guys make hundreds of thousands, minimum, and they have a shuttle service the NFL gives them. The avergae Joe working from pay check to pay check who goes out to have a good time with his friends on friday night has enough to scrape together for a few drinks, and when he is done buying 3 drinks for 10 to 12 bucks..he is now low on cash and can't afford a taxi home, and then later back to the bar to get his car. It would defiitely be the smart decision, but you understand it a little bit with paycheck to pay check folks taking time out to have a good time and not being able to afford the safe alternative home. (I AM NOT EXCUSING DRINKING AND DRIVING, just saying I understand it more, which is why me, as a pay check to pay check, will go get a 6 pack from the store and drink at home in front of the tv when I do).

However, NFL players have hundreds of thousands of dollars and a free shuttle service created just for them basically. There is no excuse in the world except straight out stupidity.
