The World Cup starts this weekend, so I'll be following that for the next month or so. Towards the end of that we have the NHL draft and free agency which are interesting for a few days. Then probably baseball (even though the M's suck) until training camp opens for the Seahawks. The Huskies are in the mix as well.

I'll try a bit of world cup, as I always do. But try as I might, and watch as I will and do, I am just not a fan. Same with basketball, college or pro.

I'll watch to see just how bad the Orioles can get. It might get amazing.

I'll probably watch some Red Sox games, NASCAR, some golf, maybe some world cup though I'm not a big soccer fan. The network that shows the Bruins games sometimes show repeats of last seasons games, I might watch some of them.

Definitely...Can Holland finally break through? Argentina looks strong (I know our Canadian team is struggling, but that recent friendly was men against boys).

The end of the hockey season always sucks, but a new season brings new hopes (unless you're the Flames or Leafs).

Ouch...When a Canucks fan is dumping on the Flames, things truly have hit rock bottom.

Ah, obviously 'So you think you can dance'

seriously, for the time being, the World Cup. But I'll follow NHL FA. That's about all in regards to sports. Well, I guess NFL news as well.

time for a hijacking rant !!!

we can probably put together a better team of canadian guys playing for other nations than the team that played Argentina

Danny Fernandes the latest, goalie playing for Portugal at the world cup, played soccer in the same youth program I did (ICSF in East Vancouver).

And Ive switched away from blaming the player who chooses to play for their ethnic team because the CSA had their chance at capping him and tieing him just like the chance they had with Asmir Begovic. He played for canada at u-20's and Dale Mitchell could have put Fernandes in a game for 1 minute in a senior friendly and he would have been tied to Canada going forward. But then Dale Mitchell was never a big fan of his anyways ... (old story next)

Daniel Fernandes is the latest in a long line of Canadian National Team scouting blunders. Overlooked for Canada’s national youth squad, Fernandes moved to Portugal to train with FC Porto. According to Fernandes’ father, when Daniel arrived back to Canada after training with the Portuguese club, Canadian coaches told the young European-trained goalkeeper that he wasn’t catching the ball properly. Daniel’s father instructed him to tell the coaches, “I’m trained in Europe. If you don’t like how I catch, I’ll go back there.” Which is exactly what happened.

A few years later, Fernandes is now a rising star in his father’s homeland of Portugal and Canadian coach Dale Mitchell, who rejected Daniel as a youth, is no doubt wincing.

Way to go CSA. You have your chance, you fuck it up, the kid goes overseas and gets European representation and they tell him playing for the homeland would be much better for their career than playing for canada

next young guy who will be turning his back on Canada will be Alex Bunburys son ... talk he will choose to represent USA

You could remind him that the Flames DO have a Stanley Cup in their history Dash. :D

Well I could, but you've eloquently done the heavy lifting for me. Of course, we shouldn't forget the 1915 Vancouver Millionaires.

That's a rep point by the way, wayne :)

Probably watch the World Cup and check it out even though I'm not a soccer fan. Then wait for the football season to start with 16 weeks of misery watching the Buffalo Bills.

You know it's not looking good when you start to look forward to the bye week, eh Boss?

The Bills need more Doug Flutie and less Rob Johnson...

That's for sure. It's tough being a passionate football fan and having the Bills as your fav team. Waiting for the season to come with anticipation but knowing it's going to suck.

It's like being excited about going on vacation by train and hearing the train getting closer getting all pumped up as it approaches then you realize your standing on the freakin tracks !!!
