NOTICE TO POSTERS ON RAMPAGES-ALL READ

As of today, there is an adjustment to the rules of posting that I know all of you saw and have read when you came on this board. Due to recent events that have occurred both on threads and behind the scenes, name-calling and aggressive suggestions such as ball-busting, trolling, and getting into people faces with remarks in posts to prove that you have a bigger pair then another poster will NO LONGER BE TOLERATED. If you can't make your argument without jumping down somebody's throat and having them retort with aggressive suggestions, they don't post.

I have gone through some of the recent threads and edited them and I have edited even some of my own posts. If you find some of your threads edited or removed entirely, I apologize if that offends you. I am not leaving any krap on the board so somebody can use it to fuel their petty agendas.

I want everyone to be able to banter without getting hurt and apparently there has been plenty of that recently. We are inches from getting people kicked off this board and I don't want to be the guy to have to do that. But I will if it continues. After some consultation with higher ups and some other posters, I am instituting this change so that we can keep everyone here.

I suppose, I must apologize to everyone for letting this get out of hand as I have been guilty of some of this to some extent as well. You will not see that from me again. And I will be editing posts if this continues. So, if you think this is going to blow over and everyone can return to the old ways, you can forget that notion because it ain't going to happen. You try it, you alone will be the loser because you will risk losing your posting privileges if you insist on this type of behavior. If you need a reminder, you'll get one from me. After being reminded once, the next time it occurs, you'll be gone. Capeeche? This is non-negotiable!!

Any concerns, you know where to find me. Stick to the point of sports and leave your garbage at home. I hope I make myself clear.

No need to apologize Retro your just doing your job. And its a tough one. Its seems this board is split badly on the Sam issue. And thats OK. It can be fuel for good debate. And while some maybe alittle thin skinned there really is no need for name calling. In the end we are all Rams fans (I hope) and all want the same thing. A winning team. I have no problem with anyone here or the new rules. I would hate to see some of the regulars kicked off over some misunderstandings that go over the line. Chill guys its all good.

I see you spent a lot of time doing it.

I've always had a simple rule, if someone acts a certain way, then the door is open to act in a similar fashion without recourse. That said, I found the impetus was more about equal treatment.

Too bad we all can't act like men in here.

I guess it's going to be like the 'Little Miss Manners School of Charm and Etiquette' in here.

Its always hard knowing exactly where the line is. I mean we have rules. But sometimes in the heat of the moment. And then there are posts meant for friends where there is an understanding that others may not be aware of and them taking offense. I will say this board is tame compared to the old yahoo. It was like the old west and everyone got bloody. I personally saw nothing wrong with the thread in question. But thats just me. Rules are rules.

This is true and I certainly can post without getting personal, heck it's not even my nature! I know some may not believe that, but it is what it is...

Retro is really stuck in a hard place that I'm sure he doesn't even enjoy. He likes the banter as much as most of us do! Heck sometimes people are looking for the exchange and love it. Other times some posters kind of deserve it, even if they say they don't like it.

I thought, WOW that is not an easy task at hand, and I'm not sure it can happen. One thing for sure, we will all chill out a bit and the majority will be restricted by the few. Rather sad if you ask me. That's not how we see things here on the hoop for the most part, but things got a bit out of hand here on these Rams boards and it came time to take the walk to the woodshed I guess.

I personally don't think the 'real' problem here is name calling at all. It may have ended there but I think that complaint is the one that was used because it has some teeth, as I feel the real grievance may have none.

Who knows?

None of us were privileged to some of the off thread info that retro has so I guess there's gotta be some bite to it.

Vita don't read to much into it. I have always found your posts to be informative and insightful. You have a style that is all your own and there is nothing wrong with that. While we don't agree on everything who the heck does. Take SJ76 he too has his own style polar opposite of yourself but in his own way just as insightful and informative. Without both personalities on this board it would be much poorer. I think sometimes people try to take sides in things that dont really involve them and thats when the misunderstandings start. Thats when you get into the whole hurt feelings and he made me mad and pming and such.

Ozarkram, you know I've always thought a lot of you except for the fact that you don't post enough.

I guess you really hit it on the head for me when you said it gets into the whole hurt feelings thing.

That's what I think this is about and it's certainly easy enough to do for some without calling names.

It's too bad too because there is no way to in act rules to prevent this.

It's also too bad because we all act like nimrods from time to time and getting a reality check from another brother just might be the appropriate response and called for. However now we can't take that line of action, it's against the rules. Too bad too because the majority of us are thick skinned enough to take it, just like we see on most other boards on this site.

I agree Vita but I don't think you have to worry to much with Retro at the helm he will I believe be able to separate the wheat from the chafe. As to my posting I try to pick and chose. I can be very opinionated and stubborn. And I tend to offend people easily so I am very careful what I post.

Like I can't wait for the dogging of Clemens by these people versus San Fran, like Bradford was soooo good at home on prime time!! And watch, these "Bradford lovers" won't be as nice and patient as they have been for Clemens. Surely they won't have all the excuses ready either.

I wonder how many times Bradford changed his diaper in that Thursday night game versus the 49ers?

And I expect Clemens to make mistakes and not be good tomorrow.

But I really hope they ALL bring the noise in San Fran.

If I was KING I would let people say anything they wanted on any subject. But when it gets personal as far as name calling to other posters that's where I would draw the line. Argue the point as heated as you want but only the point/subject matter. Not getting personal. Which has no relevance to the subject. That's my take. Just no personal attacks.

I guess the real question is where do you draw the line. Its seems to be zero tolerance. You and I could have a heated argument about something and be fine with it. While someone else might be offended. I can see this becoming a real problem and hurting the board in general.

Chillipepper that is exactly the original modus operandi I employed when I first was appointed to the board as a mod but people couldn't separate arguing with passion from personal attacks just as Ozark has stated. Then it became a accusation fest and all sorts retaliatory accusations upping the ante with each round. And that is when I had to change things for the good of the board. We were and still are inches from getting yanked because we can't seem to control our communication styles making all sorts of excuses. That is no longer going to cut it because the discourse on the board then becomes even more chaotic. Nope we are going to do it the new way or we will all be done.
