Why?
I was watching the Lakers game last night and was hit by a major epiphany. Kent Bazemore matched his career high (which he just previously set a few days prior) of 23 points against the Pelicans. At first thought, I was happy to see him be productive. My second thought was "Maybe he didn't get a fair chance with the Warriors?". My third thought was "I need another beer", followed by my fourth thought "he's just a looter in a riot."
I remember Kenny Smith use this term a few weeks back during the Warriors game. He wanted to see if Jordan Crawford was the real deal or if he was simply a "looter in a riot". The concept is simple: Is this player a good player who can contribute on a winning team or are they just another guy with empty numbers?
Last night watching Bazemore's performance reminded me of how many games I watched Corey Maggette drive to the basket and pray for a foul. It reminded me of how many times I saw John Starks and Larry Hughes jack up shot after shot. Watching Antawn Jamison go for 50 in back to back games and believe he was a franchise player. Watching Brian Cardinal, Earl Boykins, Marc Jackson (not our coach TT) put up huge stats to only get us another L.
Flash forward to today. The Warriors have a winning team. They have winning players. They have guys who are invested and have high expectations. I will have my frustrations going forward but I'm just gonna enjoy the ride from here on out.
