But apparently Josh Norman is being worked in as a true #1 corner in OTA's. Meaning he is being tasked with lockdown on the best WR as apposed to just covering a side of the field. Should be interesting to see if he can take that next step in a new defense. If he can, we just got alot better in the secondary.

I like it. The Norman signing made our defense the best in the division.

Not ready to make that leap just yet, as I think our D-line, safeties and ILB position all have serious question marks. But if Norman can be a true #1 CB to take away the real #1 WRs in the game.... its a damn good start.

Shark we have the best pass rushers in the division and the best Cb's in the division. Case closed.

We also have the worst D-line in the division (possibly the league) more questions than answers at safety, and a serious case of who is starting at ILB. Sorry dude, Im not sold until I see it. We finished bottom 5 in defense last year, and aside from Norman, Gallette coming back from injury, an a second round tweener.... Im not seeing a whole lot of improvement at the moment.

Yes the run defense is suspect but adding Galette, burton, and Norman to the defense would be huge. Galette is going to make Smith and Kerrigan a lot better.

Plus it cant be any worst than last year with Gholsten and Hatcher.

Galette has not take a snap for us even in preseason. Burton was a backup Special teams player. It looks ok on paper. But we havent had a top ten defense since Gregg Williams left. And I have about as much confidence in Joe Barry as i have faith in Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

lol. The talent level this year is insane at OLB and CB. We haven't had this type of depth in years at these two positions. If you look at the defenses of the other three division foes on paper Skins win in a landslide. Eagles and Cowboys are a joke. The Giants look decent but they have major problems at LB and S.

We have major problems at LB and safety. You are saying an injury prone old D-Hall, a backup Burton, and two question marks at ILB... totally ignoring that the best D-lineman we have would be considered 2nd tier any place else..... BUt we are hands down better than anything else in the division?? Come on brother, slow your roll. Cause unless Galette can stay healthy AND produce at a pro Bowl level.... we are no better and likely lucky to be around the same level as we were last year on defense. I expect teams will run at us early and often unless we can stop it. And unless Hall and Burton are alot better than I expect, I would be shicked if our defense is middle of the pack.

We are not as bad as you think. Definitely better than last year. Gholsten was one of the worst safeties in the league last year. So how is Burton or Nacho not an updgrade?

IM actually expecting WORSE results. Nacho has not been able to stay healthy. Burton is a backup we hope can start. Our D-line.. as shocking as it might sound, has actually gotten less talented. So we are pinning our hopes on the idea that Norman can actually elevate his game in a new system with more responsibilities, and that Gallette can actually make it through a full contact practice without getting injured again.

I am fine with having a poor run defense because I don't see many low scoring games for us this season. I think we start quick, build leads, and rush the passer.

We play teams with good defenses so we need a competitive rush defense

I think both dean and shark are correct. We still have a number of holes but given the state of the division even this defense could be the best of the 4 teams. I think we are better than last year but a long way from being a good defense. Next year I'd really like to see an impact tackling machine at ILB and an impact NT. Barry may claim a NT is not crucial in his defense but it's still a 3-4 and still requires a good NT.

As long as opposing offenses can run over our D line at 4-5 yards a clip on 1st down, having the top CBs and OLBs don't mean a lot. Until we can prove we can stop that, no way can our defense be mentioned as one of the best in the league.

I didn't say league, I said Division. How would our defense be worst this year than last year? I don't get that at all.

I think it will be a much better defense. PS (year 2) and Galette providing a rush with RK is an improvement. Our ILBs will be able to tackle this season. Our secondary is vastly improved. Our DL is about the same as last season.
