The Beatles are easily the most overrated music act of all time.......

:)

Personally, if we're looking at groups before I was born, I'd lean toward Creedance, though Zeplin's good and Ozzy's Sabbath was pretty good as well.

Complete nonsense.

No, actually, people would think I'm too optimistic. At least yesterday there was the music discussion that got nearly 100 posts on the chat thread. No one doing nothing until I posted that it was slow, now at least a chat is happening.

Complete nonsense.

1 great song (Come Together) and a few good songs doesn't make an all time great. They're nothing more than the 60's Backstreet Boys.

Yep, I agree. I'm glad you can finally see that people's opinions about the Beatles are fuck of "chit" ;)

I figured I'd get some ire for the Beatles comment - which is why I said it.

I have no issue with you not liking the Beatles, I think the Beach Boys were amazingly overrated and some people love them so I get it. The Backstreet Boys comment was foolish however but it was for shock value so I didn't feel the need to respond.

Having been a teen and seeing the crazed affections girls had for The Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, I can imagine how Beatle mania was (since I've seen similar scenes in the news reals and documentaries I've watched). So, comment was to show what I thought was a ridiculous amount of hype for both groups. Way too many girls "swooning". I guess the major difference is with The Beatles the men swooned, too?

Now, to clear the air - I am not saying that the Backstreet Boys are as musically talented as the Beatles. Hell, as far as straight musical skill, way too many "artists" today wouldn't know how to make music without computer equipment to make them sound ok - and many wouldn't even know what instrument the computer is mimicking.

I like when people judge history with a future's mind.

The Beatles grabbed the world by the balls, before it even knew it had balls. They started out as a 50's bubble gum pop band (that STILL wrote great songs, mind you) and evolved right in front of our eyes, into a deep and talented progressive rock band. What they did will never happen again. There will be plenty of teen sensations, but none that will transcend that age group. Everyone likes the Beatles.

Except for "edgy" new-age, hipsters that think they were just a pop band, instead of the INVENTORS of it.

Sorry. I have a few rules in life. One is never trust someone that dislikes the Beatles. It's weird.:dhd:

Oh, well. I guess you don't trust me. I'm so broken about it :). Just never liked the Beatles. Parents do but not excessively. I'll give them that they are better than most of what was coming out in Country during the 60s, but I still prefer "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" over "Yellow Submarine".

Every band has lesser songs. FWIW, my 4 yr old daughter LOOOVES Yellow Submarine. Prolly my least favorite album of theirs

Now, I will admit, that my favorite Rock bands almost all come from post 1980.

Black Stone Cherry
Metallica
3 Doors Down
Godsmack
Steelheart
Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Apocalyptica
Evanescence
Creedance Clearwater Revival
Led Zepplin

I will also admit, that over the last 15 years or so, I have been moving toward A Cappella and Classical Crossover more than Rock.

Never liked Helter Skelter - and it has nothing to do with Charles Manson.

Here, my Beatles top 10:

1. Come Together
2. Can't Buy Me Love
3. Back in the U.S.S.R.
4. Hard Day's Night
5. All My Loving
6. I Want to Hold Your Hand
7. Help!
8. Hey, Jude
9. We Can Work It Out
10. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

At least this is the top 10 of the 60 songs of their's that I have on my computer (and the only ones I really like enough to listen to more than just every once in a while).
