I disagree. There has never been a better time to like music. The internet has blown the door open and the availability to endless up and comers and the accessibility thereto as a fan is awesome.


There are plenty of great new bands. They just aren't on the radio so much, cuz the radio is a relic.

Its a wide ocean of music that is only a couple of inches deep.

I think there is another issue, too. South Park had an episode once where the entire episode was just rehashed plots from the Simpsons and there was always someone pointing out that the Simpsons already did it. At some point, all of the low hanging fruit has been picked. Its difficult to make music better than what has already been made without making issues topical, political or offensive. Conversely, by doing that then you are shutting off from making money 95% of the time.

I like music from every era. I have like, 100 straight days of music on itunes without hearing the same shit twice. CD's are the cheapest they've ever been with digital access. Alphabetized and organized.

There are so many great independent labels now....accessibility to new bands has never been better. I think Rock music is as good as it's been in some time, just most don't hear it.

Clutch, Baroness, Kylesa, Mastodon....all awesome.


Just within the last couple of years, we've seen new albums from The Pixies, Faith No More, The Melvins...

I don't know man...I'm comfortable with music's past, present and future.

I say this understanding that they are fantastic musicians. That is the first argument I get: "Better musicians then you are" which is just a terrible argument, of course they are better musicians, does not mean they make good music.

They are the Jamal Crawford of bands.

Can we all agree that musical groups in todays day in age like One Direction are far more diverse and multi talented than PF, The Stones and The Beatles?

Music is completely subjective. It comes own to personal taste there is no way to prove what is better than what. Like a lot of our sports arguments there is the nostalgia factor that everything from the 60s and 70s were better

I'm not sure its completly subjective, no way am I gonna listen to someone tell me todays pop music is better than anything that came before it, nothing today is original its all computer generated stuff and autotune.

That's still an opinion based on personal preference. My opinion is that classic rock just sounds like a bunch of ugly dudes screaming annoying noise. Neither can be proven

Anything my dad listened to in the car when I was a kid lol. Zeppelin would probably top that list made my ears bleed. AC/DC , Aerosmith, the Who those types. The only ones I like are Springsteen and Bon Jovi. So, yeah the Jersey guys lol.
