If you aske me it's the most interesting race in years for this trophy.

My top 3 are:

Lidstrom
Weber
Yandle

Right now I'd personally give it to Weber. If anyone says they'd give it to the other two I'll argue. I'll really just be playing Devil's advocate though.

No clear cut favourite, IMO.

I think Yandle should get it. He probably won't because of where he plays. I mean hardly anyone has seen him. I was disappointed when Yandle was left off Team USA for the Olympics.

Lidstrom is the biggest reason I hate Plus/Minus. It's easy to get a plus when you play on quite possibly the most talented team in the league almost every year.

Yandle is freaking awesome to watch. I'd be happy to see him win it.

I'm not sure what you mean about Lidstrom though; he is only +1 this year. He has played great hockey though.

I pick Weber because he impacts so much in all zones. He has a great shot and can play the PP with aplomb.

He is a feared open ice hitter in the neutral zone.

He has the reach, size, lateral quickness and smarts that make him a topnotch penalty killer.

I don't think any D-man does it all and means as much to their team as Weber does to Nashville.

I think Weber is the biggest reason why Ryan Suter is the most under appreciated defenseman in the league. He's not as talented overall as Weber is, but he's much much smarter and positionally sound. He's the kind of guy that constantly makes those little plays you might not notice, but that Cherry breaks down and tells "all you young hockey players to pay attention".

I'd like to know who these defensemen are that are playing so great around Lidstrom. He's the only one on the team that has shown up every game. Coaches included.

No shit. Stuart has been his safest partner, and he's been injured most of the season. Rafalski's play has picked up as of late, but he was a giveaway machine for much of the year. Kronwall has regressed to 2007, and let's not even talk about Ericsson.

He won't be in the race at all, but Mark Giordano has been the Flames best defenseman for two seasons now...

lubomir visnovsky has had a pretty good year statistically but i don't know much more about him.

i know i am a homer, but jut don't know how you could go against lidstrom this year. he has been the one stabilizing force on that blue line. i've seen him break up so many 2-1's this year it's ridiculous.

wings would not be in the 2 spot without him.

Lubo's having a good season, but I think some of that can be attributed to his partner, Toni Lydman who leads the NHL in plus minus. He's a steady stay at home blue liner which allows Lubo to get involved much more in the offense.
