FRISCO, Texas – The NFL has announced compensatory picks for the 2017 NFL Draft, and the Cowboys were not awarded any this year after tying for the league lead last year with four – one of them, of course, used to select quarterback Dak Prescott (135th overall).Read
The NFL adds compensatory picks to the end of rounds three through seven. The league assigns picks to teams through a formula weighting the number of players a team lost via free agency versus the number of free agents it signed. Factors are salary, playing time and postseason honors.Read
Last year, the Cowboys signed four free agents (guard/center Joe Looney, defensive end Benson Mayowa, running back Alfred Morris, defensive end Cedric Thornton) and lost three players to free agency (guard Mackenzy Bernadeau, quarterback Matt Cassel, running back Robert Turbin).Read
