This will be a great series with the Orioles and Royals close in some important stats. I give the edge to the O's because of the power vs. speed stats. Heck, a homer is four bases at once. O's in 6 games.

Could be an exciting series jvett with both teams not having been picked at the beginning of the year to be here.

Wtf. Royals do the power thing and win 8-5 in 10 innings with HRs by Escobar in the 3rd, Gordon and Moustakas in the 10th. Orioles 6/15 w/RISP, two doubles, no HRs. Fat Delmon gets pinch single and RBI in the 10th but O's can't keep it going.

Escobar doubles in the lead run in the 9th for the Royals. Orioles and fans look glum. O's or bozos?

Royals take it 6-4 as O's seem lame. KC leads 2-0. They came to play. Key players for KC:
Cain 10/27 .370
Hosmer 10/23 .435
Moustakas 7/22, 4 HR, .318

Postseason:
R's 3.40 ERA; BA .255
O's 4.38 ERA; BA .282

:agree:That might happen, retro. They put away OAK, LAA, and so far BAL. Their outfield play has been tremendous. Fartboy, Retardo, and Clown for Cain. :pound:

The Royals have a total payroll of 91 million dollars. Their highest paid player is Shields at 13 million.
Amaro has double that in spending and yet two years in a row the Phillies only won 73 games. I guess you make better choices on who and what you get when you focus on team balance instead of feeding
overpaid veterans. The Royals do not have overpaid Vets blocking their youth. The are a perfect example of giving guys a chance to succeed!

Spot on as usual Northeast. We have already chronicled the insanity of braindead but it is always revisited when you see a club like the Royals that are managed correctly on all levels of the game and business. I hope that idiot owner is watching the Royals and is green with envy. Maybe the damn idiot will wake up and get a clue.

Jvett. That is a perfect trade. I'm in!

Surprising series

I'm probably in a small minority when it comes to payroll
I'm tired of hearing about payroll - I don't care if the Phillies have a $500 million payroll.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't affect me. It doesn't matter if the Phillies have a $1 million payroll or $500 million payroll I don't see my life or bills affected

So that being said I do agree with Northeast and Retro in that no matter the size of the payroll you have to be smart about how you spend that payroll and I don't think Ruin Tomorrow will ever be that smart so Phillies fans will have to be on the sidelines watching until he is gone

KC is fun to watch, speed, power & pitching and a never say die attitude.
