Not that I'm advocating for anyone of those guys in particular - but the "unexpected" players that we select at 30:

Whitney Mercilus
Kendall Reyes
Derek Wolfe (he would be a steal in the 2nd or later)
Courtney Upshaw
Chandler Jones

And at pick # 30, neither one of those players would make me do cartwheels. I'd be content with Wolfe, Merclilus, and Reyes. I'm not really happy with pick # 30 this year unless a few players miraculously happens to fall to us. Which means, I prefer trading it for a high to mid second round pick this year, and a future first (next year's draft).

Well last time we picked this late was in 08 when we picked Balmer so the ceiling is really really low to be able to surpass that. :D

We trade out of the 30, either a combo of future picks and maybe a late rounder this year, or we go Up

I almost puked when that selection went in, I was mad and sick and angry..

I can't remember exactly what our needs were at the time, but I'm pretty sure WR, CB and Safety were near the top. That pick (and the POS that came next, Chilo Rachal) could have been some combination of Kenny Phillips, Brandon Flowers, Desean Jackson, Jordy Nelson, Matt Forte, Calais Campbell, and Ray Rice.

I think the Niners will go OL and pick Silatolu.

I have a feeling that's going to be the pick as well as the prospect of having two nasty mauling guards will be too much for Baalke and company to pass up.

Silatolu is gaining some steam though so it's possible he might get taken in the 20's before we have a chance to pick him.

Both have question marks, to me. Not saying that they'll be busts but I'm not sold on either in the first. Wright, especially, has had questions raised given his pedestrian combine and size.
